Guest bunglebear Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Hi All, Newbie here and in need of some advice please! Just got a lovely 98 xantia td auto and is a great car.....now im not that mechanically minded (so maybe citroen not best choice eh?) but here's my problem of the moment! The car squeks!! at first I thought it was just in driving but this is not the case, I got in the car the last night and as I sat down it squeked - if i rock it up/down it squeks! hope its something simple!! any ideas greatly appreciated TIA Quote
Guest dtm Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hello, That's not an easy one. Normally the squeak comes from the anti-sink valve, but you can't ear it wile driving, only after turning off the car does the valve make a squeaky noise. The squeaky noise normally is associated with a faulty anti-sink valve. Good Luke Quote
Guest Xantia Pilot Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 The strut wiper seals in the front suspension can squeak when they are dry. I fixed that for about a year by attaching some fabric soaked with gearbox oil around the struts. Took hours and a deal of struggle, so I didn't bother again, although in theory lubricating the wiper seals may extend their life. Quote
C5-Nigel Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 pull back the boots on the front suspension struts and spray some lhm fluid on the struts the squeak will go. don't do it the day before mot's as it might fail with a strut leak that simply isn't there. The old BX struts used to squeak to but they had a hole at the top of the struts you could pour lhm into. Quote
