Erratic Running

My 1.8 litre 16valve Xsara Exclusive misbehaves. Sometimes it's great but more often it either:

Runs at a high tickover,(around 2000rpm), which gets a little scary in town,

Won't tick over and cuts out at junctions,

Runs great at over 1200rpm but misfires at lower revs and when under load.

 

I've had it on a diagnostics machine which said nothing wrong.

I've changed spark plugs and filters and can find no air leaks.

 

Any ideas?

 

Anyone?

 

By the way I'm fed up with the rear brakes. They're rubbish.

i have the same car and problems its one of 2 things 1 idle speed stepper can be cheep if you get a stepper send me the details as i canot get one anywhere i have seen the on ebay 23 quid find out if your inlet manifole is plastic first i am still trying to work it out myself

or 2 ecu has the same simtoms you can get a replacement for around 189 on the net but try the stepper first plz post if you find a stepper
