Guest teampearce Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 There is hope for all of us out there with premature cambelt failure. The engine can be rebuilt in my experience, the injectors can often be removed and a new engine is not always required. My C8 is proof of this despite one Citroen Dealership telling me to "get over it, you have to have a new engine......" `The engine is built by Fiat and is fitted with "fail safe rockers" which are designed to effectively save the engine upon cambelt failure. My engine was absolutely fine and simply needed some of the rockers to be replaced, along with a faulty injector and one stuck injector and a new cambelt. I have done over 4000 trouble free miles since. Please don't give up, it is likely your engine is OK. Quote

Hi Have to agree there most cambelt failures only need a new belt and rockers, vast majority don't damage the valves. biggest problem for most is seized in injectors to which i have the answer with a 98% success rate.
