Feee Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 PLEASE HELP!My heater in my 1.9 ZX just stopped. It still gets hot so heating bit of it works because if I go at speed the air coming out of the vents is warm but the fan that makes it blow out is not working... :) checked fuse and it looks ok. Can't keep driving at 60 to keep warm! :) Any suggestions? If motor has gone on fan will it be possible to replace it from a scrap yard?Need to sort this ASAP as looks like it's gonna get colder this week.... uhoh. :)Thanks. Quote

Guest Howdo Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 you have three choices one buy a new motor, or you could take the old one out and replace the motor bushes that will have worn out if their not worn out see next solutions, I got my re placement one on line but the size I got where to big so I spent a few hours filing them down to size , so if you go this way get the right size and save your self some grief. Last choice is the motor selector unit, if you turn the selector on the console from one to four and nothing happens then more likely is this unit that needs replacing, the unit is just in side the air vent behind the wiper cover on the front windscreen. undo the six screw holding the plastic cover on, lift up the end near the vent, if you can lift it up without it come all the way out , it will save you a lot of bother when putting it back, you'll then see a plastic grid pull this off and then turning anti clockwise the unit that looks a like three springs remove and fit new one. hope this helped and may description on what to try and do was not to confusing. Feee Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Thanx Howdo, after a lot of trial and error, and advice, discovered it's the 'resistor'...Temporary fix so blower works full blast as if number 4 but turn to number 1! ;) Fused so should be safe until can do proper repair...! :o Need a battery now, been showing battery warning light on dash after starting engine for a few weeks so better be safe than sorry! :) Still love the car! Happy and safe driving all in this weather... x Quote
