Guest cez1974 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Hi all, My key fob started to play up a few months ago, so I thought the battery was on it's way out. Took it down to Citroen who replaced the battery and checked the fob (all was fine). Re-programmed it but it was still only working intermittently. Took it back to Citroen, and sod's law, it worked for the guy checking it (but then that was the problem - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't). Now it's not working at all. To lock my car I have been putting the key in the driver's door and when I turn the key to the lock position, have also been pressing the lock button on the fob, which seemed to work OK for a while. But now that's not working either now and I can only lock the driver's door manually. Citroen have quoted me £245.00 (plus VAT) just to look at the problem and said that it will probably cost an additional £400.00 to repair it!!! Any ideas please because that's WAY out of my budget!! Thanksx Quote
Guest Judd Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Just guessing here, but if it's been working intermittently whilst turning the key in the door leads me to think that you have a dry joint in the plipper, someone who's handy with electronics might be able to spot the problem under a good magnifier and solder it up for you, worth getting them to look anyway as if it's just a new plipper needed then it's not too expensive, and a competent auto locksmith should be able to provide and program a new one cheaper than the dealer, though i can't recommend any one in particular. If it's not the plipper and is more complicated (expensive) you should be able to get the central locking put back to 'transport' mode, which is how they are before the missing fuse is put in during PDI. Then you'll still be able to centrally lock the car via the dash button, turn off engine and remove key, then when you open the drivers door the other locks won't be triggered and you'll be able to lock the drivers door as you are now. If you can make head or tale of my useless explanation i'll eat me hat..:( Quote
