Guest Kisssara Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi everyone, I have not posted for a while. I have a 52 reg diesel Xsara which I am very happy with. It has a cassette-radio unit fitted and the information from this is displayed on a separate screen above. The AM band stopped working some time ago and I have had limited success trying to play CDs via a cassette adaptor or FM transmitter. Is there a way of replacing the cassette-radio unit with a shop-bought CD-radio unit. i have doubts because the existing unit shares a display with the car info. system such as outside temp. and open door warnings etc. Any input greatly appreciated thanks. Keith Shouldn't be a problem. I did this in a C5 Mk1 a few years ago. Your display will continue to show all the non-radio information, and the new unit will have its own display. Some after market radios will allow connection via extra leads to your car display, but probably not worth it. If you have remote volume control, that can usually be connected too. Quote

I can now go and get a unit to build in which will provide good sound instead of tinkering with various adaptors etc. Might need wiring adaptors which I remember getting for a Ford Ka when I replaced the factory unit. (The Ka didn't have any displays to confuse matters). Regards, Keith Quote
