Guest Daws Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Hi, I'm a new member and just joined so hello to everyone. We have a 2006 multispace 1.6 hdi. However, the EOBD light is on. In the handbook it quotes 'There is a high risk of damage to the cat converter.Have sytem checked bt a Citroen main Stealer'. What does this mean? Can it be reset? Is this something I can sort myself bearing in mind I normally do all my own servicing, but this is more modern than I'm used to working on. Any help appreciated. Daws Quote
Guest womble Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Having recently bought a Berlingo Multispace 2.0HDI on a '54 plate, I find myself in a similar predicament to yourself. Mine was bought from a Citroen Dealer with a 12 month manufacurer's used vehicle warranty but within days of buying, the darned Engine Warning light comes on. Apparently a code reader is needed or a hook-up to a diagnostic computor to give details of the fault code. My vehicle went back to the dealer but they said No Fault Found, what they termed as a phantom fault. If the fault is serious, the engine goes into "Limp Mode" and will not rev above about 2,000 rev/min. When the light keeps coming on with mine there is no loss off power and no set routine to it happening. It is becoming a bit of a P.I.T.A. and I am thinking of getting a code reader to carry with me so I can log faults and reset the engine light. Armed with logged codes I intend to go back to the main dealer and ask the question "What the "donald duck" you going to do about it.... There are many code readers about ranging from the cheap and cheerful from e-bay for about £25 to many £100's of pounds. A mate of mine is service manager for a Land Rover dealership and they use a Sealey VS8700 Code Reader which costs about £50-£60, I am going to borrow it one weekend and if it works shall buy my own. Like all things in life, Caveat Emptor or as they say in Rome, Buyer Beware and you only get what you pay for.Buy cheap crap and you end up paying twice so I want to get this right first hit without megaspend. Will keep you informed of progress..... P.p.s. Would welcome input from others and reccommendations for code readers etc Quote
