C8 Losing Power And Jerking Forward

I have a Citroen C8, 2.0 diesel (2003)It's done about 78,000 miles. A while ago it started losing power and jerking forward when driving 30-40mph. It then suddenly stopped doing it and was fine, a couple of months later it started doing it again, so I took it to my local garage and the diagnostics stated it was the air flow meter/sensor. I spent £250 having it replaced, and everything was fine, it was running well for a couple of weeks. However it has now started losing power again and jerking forward, and also noticed a burning smell coming from the bonnet when I pulled up on my drive. This problem seems to be intermittent but no idea what it could be. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like exactly the same problem with my c8 2.0 hdi 2004 with 90k miles. I changed the air flow meter and didnt solve the problem. Thought it might be dirty diesel and had the tank taken down and checked. Fine for a while and it started happening again. at this stage im not sure what to look at. Any ideas would be a help. Wondering if the EGR valve might be the problem. Im fed up at this stage as im spending money and dont seem to be getting anywhere.

Still no ideas as to what could be causing this problem. My husband took the car out and drove it for an hour or two (further than I usually drive it) and the problem seemed to go, it stoppped losing power and jerking forward and began running smoothly on the way back after about an hour. So at the moment it's running quite well. But wondering if it's only a matter of time before it starts losing power again. I'm wondering if only making short journeys and driving in traffic could be causing the problem??

Also noticed that when I pull up on the drive it makes a whirring noise after I turn the engine off, stops after a couple of minutes but just wondering if it may be part of a bigger ongoing problem???

I'm getting really sick of this car and wish I'd never bought it. Been nothing but problems from day 1. In the last 10 months since I bought it, I've had the clutch replaced, the engine temperature sensor replaced, the windscreen washer pump replaced, the air flow meter replaced, headlight bulb holders replaced, and still things keep going wrong...So sick of this car.

I have had exactly the same problems. I took it to an independent citroen specialist and the computer he connected to stated it was an airflow issue. Had the meter and sensor replaced for £179. Then 2 days later it started losing power again. Took it back. They found the connection to a tube that goes to the turbo(?) had been broken and that this would also cause the same problem. That was fixed for another £100. The C8 drove really well and much better than before. Alas, 5 days later the same issue. Can't blame the garage because the computer stated it was an airflow issue and when I took it back they found the other problem. I don't want to keep spending money on it, but I need to get it fixed in order to sell it and get something much better. I also get the same noise from the engine when the ignition goes off. I agree that this is probably the worst car I have ever purchased and will never purchase a citroen again.
