Just brought a 1998 citroen xantia 1.9td Lx estate. Problem is now fuel consumption. Not good £20.00 took it to a quarter tank done 58 miles now in the reserve section with orange light showing any ideas.

Wolfman, The shape of the tank on the 1998 1.9 TD will appear to drop the gauge quickly between quarter full and your reserve warning light coming on .You will find that you have at least 50/60 miles of fuel left, depends if your car is facing uphill or downhill to get a true reading on the gauge.

Do not worry ,you will get around 40/50 mpg driving to the speed limits and no boy racer antics.
