dbollu Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 C3 has cut out at least ten times in the first 1000 miles. When approaching any junction, be it a roundabout or turning, the only indication that the engine has suddenly stopped is the sound of a bleep. I had meantioned it to the dealer on the first 1000 mile service but it was news to them. Has anybody else had this problem? Quote
pork_pie Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Is yours a diesel? Welcome to the party pal. Yes its cut out on me before. It is just one of many problems. However its not happened to me as many times as you. News to them? Yes its typical Citroen to act stupid whenever a complaint is made aware to them. You have faulty emission control. Get the engine management checked. If yours is petrol (highly unlikely as they are more reliable and they are owned by lucky people) then a new lambda probe or oxygen sensor may be needed. Otherwise if it is a diesel check the EGR circuit. Or do the wise thing, change the sod for something from the Land of the Rising SUn Good luck. You will need it. B+Q do cheap bricks for you to build a wall. Quote
paulbounty Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I have a C3 SX 1.4 petrol, same problem with the engine cutting out. this have happened about five times, done 3.000 miles from new. its very dangerous, I had the engine cut out when turning right, stopped across road. theres other things wrong with car, squeaky brakes, squeaky back spring, wine in gearbox (5th gear), steering got stiffer, rattles coming from everywhere inside, trim keeps falling off, Citroens are junk. nn Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 I had the squeeky brakes too. Big Time. First dealer failed to resolve the problem which was particularly bad when reversing out of my garage first thing in the morning. Second dealer appears to have sorted the problem - touch wood. :) Quote
mooseshaver Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 Sometimes I've had squeaky brakes, but just assumed it was rust building up. I love my brakes generaly. After owning a saxo its nice to have something that stops. My steering does on occasion seem a bit heavyer than it should be but maybe it thinks I'm going faster than I am as it is varible. Had a few rattles, 2nd Dealer sorted the gear box rattle. Noticed that sometimes the seatbelts knock against the side causing more rattles. Believe Citroen's are well known for cheap interior. Quote
CE08LDB Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 My C3 have had the same problem it cuts out when it come to an hault. mine is a 1.4i SX Auto Quote

Tony_T 2nd Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 This is the Tony_T but alas I had to re-reg after nobody from the forum would answer any of my emails over several months, email addy i used to reg was no more so i couldnt obtain my login pass anyroads we're back. Hope everyones well and its happy motoring across the board....even for PP :) I've now got the cutting out/ missing, happened 5 times over the last fortnight, 4 times driving along at a steady pace on a by-pass, once on heavy acceleration....twas akin to missing a heartbeat I s'pose, a misfire if it was petrol. Thats near 17k on it now........due for a change anyway, I'll visit the Citroen bouncy castle weekend and have a shufty at the C4 Quote
dave leatherby Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Noticed my steering seems stiffer now - 1.4 SX Senso 2000+ miles to date. Dont know whether its me ( ancient & getting weaker in the arms??) or have the tyres now worn-in and more rubber is in contact with road - I dunno! Any point in asking the dealer about this????? :) Quote
