Hi All,
Does anyone know if Citroen dealers know how to tune our cars to accept 98 octane fuel?

For that matter, can our cars be tuned for this?

Most other cars can, with my last experience being with a Ford Focus. The Ford dealer readily did this for me.

Cheers

Most newer cars will automatically adjust for 98 octane fuel now.

Mine says on the cap either 95 or 98RON. Deffinately felt smoother on the 98 though and my mpg went up.

This is on the 1.6 engine though.

I was using 95 RON in a C5 2.0 Estate, because that's what the fuel cap label said. Then I received a "anti-pollution fault" warning. Nice service man said it could be anything, but suggested a tank of 98 to see if that worked. 3/4 of a tank of 98 later, the warning ceased and has never returned.

My guess is that there is no need to tune for fuels within 95-100RON since the computer would adjust timing based on fuel and other conditions. If you had to buy oil-flavoured cordial because you had transferred to some god-forsaken remote outpost, then you would need "adjustment" if that were even possible with such a modern engine.

If 98 is unavailable or is vastly more expensive than 95, then perhaps a tank of 98 in every 2, 3 or 4 would be enough. And topping up with 95 shouldn't be a problem.
