Hi

Could anyone please help with suggestions of severe squeeking on the rear suspension on a 51 plate C5.The fault seems to be intermittant but can start straight away or in the middle of fault free driving...then disapear again.could this be a hydrolic fault ? as I seem to think that the hydrolics do not raise sometimes as I have watched in the wing mirror when I start the car.The squeeking is very loud and can be heard some distance away, basically sounding like it is on bed springs.

would be very grateful of any responce.

Hello,

my wife had same problem on her C5. It was a rear suspension bush that had collapsed. I had it replaced, it was a big time consuming job, cost £480 at an independant citroen garage.

I will e-mail the exact details when i get home.

Hi...Thanks for the reply,Im sure this will help pinpont the fault. From what I gather with the cost it seems about right as Problems in this area (suspension) do seem expensive.

Sounds like the rear arm bearings. You want to get them sorted asap if it is this as damage can be caused to rear arm itself and if this needs replacing as well then it gets really expensive. Parts cost about £100 per side from Citroen, as far as I know you can't get them anywhere else although they do sometimes pop up on places like eBay if bought and not used. Its a couple of hours per side to change them and when you do the ride is back like a dream again. When the car is at rest check the back wheels, if they are toeing out then this is the problem, if it's noticeable then they are shot and sort them asap otherwise it will turn out expensive!!
