Fuel Consumption

Hi all can anyone help me? please, i have a (C5 VTR HD AUTO)Estate 2179cc Reg 03/02.2005. Iv;e had the car since August 2008 as i use the car as a Taxi for the first month of use i check the milage i'e filled to the brim and so on the mpg for the hole month or so was 43mpg :D (not bad) but over the last five months are so its gone down to 30 mpgs :angry: i put in the car 60 Litre's at a time thats 13 Galons so i think im loosing at least 10 mpg so of i went to my local Citroen dealer and this is what they have come up with ----the mixture fuel air is OK the particale filter is OK.

So when i went back to the with a full tank i happen to mention to them that i seem to be using the manual side of the gear box quite often as i have notiest that the car will not go up the gears when i think it should have for instance it will not go up into 3 gear till my speed is around 35 mph or over 50 mph for 4th gear so they advised me to run a full tank useing it in manual well im half way through the tank and its not looking too good so my question is if i may as im a newby on hear please as anyone come across this befor thank for taking the tile to read this Penwith24.

Hi all again well i refilled my tank and this time i used the manual side of the gear dox for the hole tank and this time i averaged around 35 MPG so just to confirm it im doing the same again so it dose look as if theirs a probblem with the box any idears anyone?.

I have a petrol 4 speed auto and it does around 30 , slightly less than official mpg. It sound like your box is changing correctly. The problem with using the tiptronic/manual side is that it still changes down automatically. It's easy to forget to change up, until it's too late and you've wasted fuel. Using the winter setting on auto might help, but I think your problem is not related to the gearbox. There are many far better qualified folks on this board who will have a better idea than me..
