motoroller Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 This is my first post here, so let me explain :-p I have a 53 plate C5 HDI estate. It's been very reliable etc., but I;m dissappointed with the fuel consumption - in town I get around 30-33 mpg and on the motorway I get around 37 max! What can I do? Thanks! Quote
shallishanti? Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Wow I thought mine was bad........I get 41ish to the gallon, driving conservatively. I have noticed that mine really hates my hilly 30 mile commute - it really brings the economy down. If I get a long flat drive it improves a lot. Quote

Min is the 138bhp 2.0 Hdi estate, 2005 model. I took it to London from Bham two weeks ago, and it returned 50mpg with 75 mph occasionally 80 odd. A trip to Barmouth in Wales last week on bendy A roads returned 49.6. I would suggest you get your car checked by a specialist (unless of course you drive like a crazy, in which case slow down!) myglaren Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 I don't do many miles anymore, used to be ±500 per week but has fallen to about 100, almost all short trips of around four~six miles with a few round trips of 15-ish.Most recent calculations give a grand average of 31.68 MPG.or 6.98 M/L. This is on 100% biodiesel (recycled cooking oil) 52 plate 2.0 HDi 110, 117000 miles. Quote
old'uns Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 2.0 hdi estate '02 plate 150k on clock generally always boot full with tools, boxes etc, trestles on roof mixture of short, long, m-way, normally around 530-550 miles per week to 62ish litres.38-40 mpg? Quote
GreedyPig Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Just checked my trip computer (2.0HDi 138HP 56 plate/06 model Exclusive). The last 4933 miles returned 45.5mpg. That's mixed driving and 'Auto' climate control is ALWAYS on. I'm not complaining at that return. Driving is mostly mixed though. First service (20,000) coming up and a pair of front tyres needed too. Ouch! Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I've done several solo drives from London to Malaga, a total of 1450 miles. Sometimes I've averaged 47mpg but the last trip I did was 42.7, probably due to a constant head wind and heavy load. When I do the journey with a caravan, the average drops to 29. I recently did 40 miles along the A7 with the cruise set at 55mph and recorded 60mpg. But boring!!!! Quote
daffy4895 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I'm running a 03 plate 2.0 HDI 100k on the clock, not had it for long, last full tank got me to 723 miles, part of that was a round trip to manchester, which is about 450 miles from my house (would've done more!) would need to work out mpg but i reckon somewhere around 40-45mpg Quote
