when i start my air con i get cold air on the drivers side and red hot air on the passengers side.

all my temp controls are set to '16' but still the same. this also happens on normal heating.

C5 2.0 hdi 2001

this still happens with the temp showing at 20C

Citroen dealers cant explain it,

i have had the outside temp sensor replaced when it was faulty and showing 102F with ice on the windscreen.

 

any help would be gratefully accepted as my passengers are just about cooked after 10 minutes.

i have to switch it off, when i have a passenger, and open the windows

Hi i had the same problem with my 2001 2.0 Hdi and you will find its a common fault if you trawl the site, one thing i have learnt since joining the site is to try the simple things first and often spending an hour searching the posts saves a trip to the garage. As far as your fault is concerned i havent had a reoccurance of the problem since disconnecting the battery (negative first) and leaving it disconnected for several minutes (dont worry about a radio code as its not needed, you will only have to reset time/day/date). Other than that some posts suggest its the motor that drives the plastic flaps. Disconnecting the battery appars to be a cure for a host of problems including resetting the electric windows if they randomly open which happened to me.

yes, i have found that disconnecting the battery for even a few seconds cures an awful lot of problems.

the most common is the Immobiliser fault.

and the radio not going off with the ignition.

not had the window one yet, now i will be waiting for it.... cheers

in this case the problem keeps coming back.

hi

had this problem with mine recently

i just turned the temp controls up to max then down to minimum and seemed to stop it, not had any problems since :)

its true the simplest things cause the biggest headache like not using the aircon during cold times and systems sticking ( AC should be used at least once a month hot or cold ) just for a second to keep it working,

im sure there are many things on these newer cars that rarely get used once they are set up electrical that is seat/ mirrors just a couple of things :)

Hi,

 

The problem is caused by failure of the connection between the motor that controls the position of the temperature control air flap and the air flap shaft. I fixed mine recently and it's now OK. If you would like a detailed description of how to fix it then email me at john.hilton@tesco.net.

Had the same problem on my C5 V6 -01, the servo controlling the driver side temperature mix had to be replaced.

 

Not only once, but twice, the first time the mechanic used the wrong type of servo, which caused me two visits to the shop. The whole thing cost me ~ £160. For at least 5 hours of labor plus parts and free loaner car that must be considered a fairly decent price.

 

(I am in Sweden but the swedish Citroën forum can't handle new registrations at the moment).

Thanks for the tip about disconnecting the battery.it solved the problemI had driven from Limoges airport in France , it was 30c i was lovely and cool the wife was cooking.

after finding this forum and lo and behold the very problem was mentioned i'm a very happy bunny, instead of feeding the coffers of our local Citroen dealer i can now buy an extra bottle of red wine.
