    Release Of C2

Snipped from the citroen site, it does not mention too much but this is the standard when releasing a new car, so much changes from concept to production. We will keep our eyes and ears open Citroën's wicked new 3-door supermini First details of the eagerly awaited Citroën C2 supermini, with its distinctively wicked style, show it will offer a combination of strong road presence, innovative practicality, exceptional equipment and, of course, sporty appeal with the VTR version, when it goes on sale towards the end of the year. Unlike anything else around, the C2 promises to be the 'wild child' of the supermini sector with its purposeful bonnet, squared off headlamps and large wheel arches - providing room enough for 16" wheels. In short, the Citroën C2 looks every inch the 'pocket rocket', with its dynamic stance and minimal overhangs promising to make it agile and surefooted around town or on the open road. Ensuring that its interior is as dynamic as its exterior, the four seat Citroën C2 boasts a range of bright, modern design schemes, including orange, blue and green, for the colour coded trim and matching coloured translucent gear lever knob and armrests. Clever stuff too from Citroën sees the introduction of sliding and folding rear seats, for unprecedented versatility. As well as providing more elbow room than most superminis, this ingenious configuration also provides excellent legroom or good bootspace and ample room for three occupants plus plenty of luggage space. Innovation even continues in the boot of the car, where the designers have introduced a split tailgate - ideal for tight town situations - with a glass that hinges like a hatchback and a drop-down lower tailgate with its own storage compartment. The car may be compact but the equipment list is not. Everything from automatic air conditioning, electronic parkign assistance, remote stereo controls, multi-adjustable steering wheel and an onboard computer through to light sensitive headlamps, rain sensitive windscreen wipers and overspeed warning are all available. And the C2 is brimming with safety equipment including ABS with EBD and EBA, automatic hazard warning lights, ESP and traction control. In the event of an impact, reinforcing bars in the doors, a retracting steering column and up to six airbags help reduce the risk of injury. Behind the wheel, drivers will benefit from the variable power assisted steering which, combined with an exceptionally good turning circle, promises to make the car fun to drive and ideal for the nip and tuck of the urban jungle. Under the bonnet, C2 will offer up to 110hp, for the 1.6 VTR model - up from the 90hp of the Saxo VTR at its launch - which, together with the 'wheel at each corner' stance, promises to make the C2 VTR great fun to drive. Citroën's highly acclaimed 1.4 HDi diesel engine and 1.1 and 1.4 petrol engines, as well as the Company's rally style SensoDrive paddle-shift gearbox, complete the powerplant line up. The three door Citroën C2 will join the five door C3 and the soon-to-be launched C3 Pluriel convertible supermini, to give Citroën three very different small cars set to appeal to very different customer requirements. Managing Director for Citroën UK Ltd. Alain Favey, said: "With its dynamic, yet mischievous looks, the C2 is set to make a great new addition to our supermini range and will help us build still further on Citroën's rapidly growing popularity in the UK."

    Release Of C2

A little picture of it as well
  3. Citroën has revealed the new car that it hopes will re-take the budget hot hatch market. The three-door C2 will be launched later this year and effectively replaces the ageing Saxo. The C2's styling is angular and aggressive - note the plunging side windows and sloping roof line - and Citroën says the extended wheelarches will accommodate 16in wheels. Base models will be powered by 1.1- and 1.4-litre engines, while the C2 1.6 VTR gets a 110bhp unit. The SensoDrive paddleshift transmission will also be optional. Inside, the interior trim can be had in blue, orange or green, and the rear seats can both recline and slide backwards and forwards. The tailgate is split Range-Rover style, so just the glass window can be opened. Safety takes a huge leap over the Saxo with the inclusion of ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, ESP, traction control and up to six airbags. There will also be a wide range of options. Boxes to tick include automatic air-con, parking radar, automatic headlamps, rain-sensitive wipers and a trip computer. Article from evo
  4. Impact test 4/5 Pedestrian test 2/5 During testing, one of the C5's door opened. Euro NCAP allowed Citroen to submit a modified car. During testing, one of the C5's door opened. Euro NCAP allowed Citroen to submit a modified car. The changes were partly successful: during a re-test of its side impact performance, the C5's door moved onto its secondary latch but remained closed. Otherwise, the car's strong passenger cell provided a safe survival space that remained intact. The driver's door could be opened normally after the frontal impact and the footwell retained its shape. The driver's chest hit the steering wheel, increasing the injury risk to this vulnerable body area. Frontal Impact The body proved very strong and the driver's screen pillar showed no distortion after the impact. However the driver's chest struck the steering wheel and the rim of the wheel was distorted by the driver's head. The footwell was virtually undisturbed and protected the driver's feet, but hard structures behind the fascia were likely to injure his knees and legs. The centre rear seat was fitted with a three-point belt, which provides superior protection to that of a two-point, lap-only belt. Side Impact The car offered impressive levels of protection and its restraint systems included four airbags plus a head curtain. It gained full marks in this test. The only problem testers noted was that, even after modifications were carried out, a door moved from fully closed to its secondary latch position. Child Restraint A switch operated by the ignition key can be used to turn off the passenger airbag, to allow a restraint facing rearwards to be installed on the front passenger's seat. A second key could be used to turn it off (but not on) while the engine is running. However, should this happen, a warning illuminates and so provides a safety check. Even so, there is too little warning of the dangers of an active airbag. Both restraints faced forward and gave some protection, but not in all situations. Pedestrian Protection The areas where an adult's or child's head might strike provided a reasonable degree of protection, but the bumper and the leading edge of the bonnet were uncompromising. Model history and safety equipment The C5 was launched in Europe during March 2001. Equipment fitted includes dual (smart) front airbags, side airbags (thorax), head-protecting curtain, front belt pre-tensioners and load limiters, three-point centre rear belt, head restraints for all seats, ABS and brake assist, emergency braking and auto warning system. ESP is optional. Make, model and hand of drive: Citroen C5 1.8i 16v SX LHD Body type: 5-door hatchback Model year: 2001 Kerb weight: 1330 kg VIN and date when rating applies: VF7DCZB6219701 Cars built on the same platform: None Test Scores: Front 13(81%) Side 18(100%) Overall 30(88%)
  5. Impact rating 2/5 Pedestrian rating 2/5 Citroen Saxo 1.1 SX Superminis The Saxo is an older design which is no longer being developed by Citroen, and a new model is about a year away. The performance is at the bottom end of the cars under test. The child restraint performance was better than for a number of newer cars tested in this phase of Euro NCAP. Frontal Impact The steering wheel moved more than allowed in the crash and the driver's head reached a point where it was starting to move off the airbag which in some circumstance can become dangerous. The airbag also bottomed-out so allowing the driver's head to contact the steering wheel. The body shell was defeated by the severity of the test and the occupant's survival space was compromised. Despite load limiters being fitted to the front seat belts the chest loads were high. The front seat belts are also fitted with pretensioners which are designed to limit forward movement in the event of a crash. The door opened during the test and which was caused by the linkage being operated when the door's inner skin separated from the outer. There were aggressively hard structures under the facia that would cause injuries to the knees and upper legs. Only a simple two-point static belt was fitted in the centre rear seat, which can cause severe spinal and abdominal injuries. Side Impact There is no specific structure in the Saxo doors to combat side impact. The chest and arm were hit by the incoming door, whilst the abdomen was contacted by the protruding armrest. The pelvis was loaded by a foam block. The loading on the chest gave rise to the risk of severe injury with only a slightly less risk of injury to the abdomen and pelvis. Child Restraint The child restraints were both forward facing and provided very good protection in the frontal test except that for the 1-and-a-half-year old's neck loads were high, which is a common failing for forward facing seats. In the side impact the seats were also good performers except that the 3-year-old's seat did not keep the child's head contained within the seat wings. Pedestrian Protection As with most of the cars we have tested in this class the pedestrian protection score come almost entirely from the adult and child impact assessments. However two of the leg impact sites were also graded as giving weak protection. Model history and safety equipment The Saxo was introduced in February 1996 and was re-styled in Sept 1999. The 2000 model year car features a drivers airbag, front safety belt pretensioners and load limiters and ISOFIX anchorages (passenger and rear outboard seats). Optional equipment: passenger airbag & side airbags (head & thorax). Make, model and hand of drive: Citroen Saxo 1.1 SX LHD Body type: 3-door hatchback Model year: 2000 Kerb weight: 830 kg VIN and date when rating applies: No running changes Cars built on the same platform: None
  6. Impact test 4/5 pedestrian test 2/5 The C3 turned in a sound all-round performance in Euro NCAP tests. Its body structure survived well and the cabin suffered only minor deformation after the frontal crash. What’s more, the seat belts and airbags worked particularly well together to safeguard front occupants from chest injuries. The C3 also protected them acceptably in the side impact, but the optional head-protecting airbag would have further reduced the risks of injury. However, the child restraints protected only patchily. Protection for pedestrians was better than that given by most other cars in this group. Frontal Impact The body and airbag restraint systems combined well to provide good levels of protection. The low impact forces recorded for the driver and front passenger’s chests were particularly welcome. But, as with any small car, it has been difficult in the C3 to provide sufficient knee room to safeguard the driver. In the C3, the steering column remains a hazard, but the knee area has otherwise been cleared of danger. The rear centre safety belt was three-point, which gives far better protection than that of a lap-only belt. Side Impact The C3 gave acceptable protection. However, the back of the driver’s head hit the door pillar. His chest came into contact with the wing of the seat and the airbag, while his abdomen struck the door panel below the armrest. Child Restraint The C3 has an on/off switch for the passenger frontal airbag for when a rear-facing restraint is placed opposite it. A pictogram and text label on the passenger’s end of the fascia explained how to use it, but did too little to warn parents against placing a child rear-facing opposite an active airbag. For the tests, The 3-year-old was placed in a forward-facing restraint while the 18-month-old was in the same type of restraint, rear-facing. Unfortunately, the 3-year-old’s head was not well protected in any of the tests, but the 18-month-old was protected in both. Pedestrian Protection Citroën has made attempts with the C3 to protect pedestrians. The cushioning given by its windscreen helped towards its two stars. Model history and safety equipment The C3 was introduced during 2002. The ’03 model year includes driver and passenger frontal and side airbags, front belt pre-tensioners and load limiters. ISOFIX mountings are provided on the rear outer seats.

    Haynes

Haynes at present are a bit behind bringing out new manuals, they have only just brought out the manual for the Picasso :( and if I recall there is not yet one for the Ford Galaxy which as been about for years now :P In fact I think other publishers have picked up on this and doing their own version, but that is only hearsay.
  9. The Citroen Picasso model has a site all on its own as it is very popular and was one of the first sites we created. You can find the forum here http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/ or the rest of the Picasso site here http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/
