  1. Since i managed to make my previous c5 an insurance write off i came across the above. There seems to be some doubt as to the validity of the mileage shown on the last MOT...on paper it states 170,00 kilometres but on the clock in the car its 114,000 miles... Now this car started life in the republic of ireland where they work in kilometres etc but here in the north we're like the rest of the uk and in miles etc Im told there;s an option to switch the mileage on the clock from one to the other but i've never heard of that being possible. Anyone come across this and how do you do it?
  2. Morning 2008 x7 2.0 hdi is there a list where i can see what the latest firmware/software for my year/mode of car might be? I'm aware i can't update it outside of a dealer but i'd at least like to be armed before heading into their tender ministrations. I don't have any issues but if updates improves things like fuel economy etc then i think its something to look at. cheers
  3. ......and how do you remove the door panel, if its fairly straight forward i'd at least like to have a look see if the glass has jumped off the guides or am i really dealing with a cable break...i know the regulator is still working as i can hearing the motor and the accompanying crunching as its moving up and down against the interior of the door...
  4. ..i wonder if those small strips of aluminium i saw would be the ones my autospark replaced, used to make the connection to that 'socket' on the right hand side of that fourth picture... on the plus side at least we have a good shot of the Valeo part number...
  5. ..hands up i'd like to read that to, my drivers NS went last week so i'm hanging fire until i can work out whats the best solution.....
  6. Morning I'll be honest the auto spark didn't show me a 'ribbon', what he did show me was literally several rectangular strips of aluminium approx the length of a fingernail, that he said had been folded double encompassing the end of connecting wiring, these 'strips' then fed into the bottom of the motor. I would imagine this wiring and the method used to connect them are used to transfer power/ecu messages to the motors themselves. He basically said that when they pulled the motors out they noticed the corrosion on these metal strips/connectors....their fix was to strip them back and attach fresh metal connectors..... Your issues sound like mine, the OS side stopped working first and because they have a separate ECU and designed to work in tandem the NS wouldn't work as a precaution other wise they'd clatter together. ..with this fix in place i haven't had a problem since.... I don't use dealers tbh, this autospark was recommended to me by my regular independent Citroen guy i've used for goin on ten years. Hope u get sorted.
  7. ..thanks for the advice, i'll certainly try that... We'll be for Eurodisney aswell and i see theres a Telepeage car parking system but i can't figure out if i'll be able to use what i have there also...any experience with it? Cheers
  8. HI Just received the above from Sanef for the run to France this weekend.... They recommend that it goes behind the mottled area at the top of the windscreen for those screens that are thermic etc...now i have the X7 model and that mottled area doesn't seem to exist...in this case they say to put it behind the housing for the the rear windscreen mirror, that also has the wiper/light sensors Has anyone any experience with this, is there a better spot for it to go? i just don't want there to be a prob the first time i roll up to a toll.. Cheers
  9. Just read through your post, thats a nightmare alright. Tbh the autosparks were a complete unknown and only recommended to me by my mechanic who'd done all the work with my Mk1 C5. They could have very easily stopped at the fault code and told me that it was a new motor, so i appreciate that it was diagnosed properly. I did call Citroen to see if my car was on the list for a recall due to the ECU and/or the motors but unfortunately it wasn't. I'm sure i'll get the DPF in due course but would hope for a bit better than 110k for the clutch, the previous Mk1 did 174k before it went! Roll on end of this month and a blast to Brittany to stretch the legs of this car...
  10. Hi all This is more of an FYI and if mods want to add it to the FAQ known issues thing then by all means. In the last two weeks the wipers started to operate only intermittently, indeed it got to the point only the drivers side would operate in what could only be described as a stuttering flap. Ended up at an auto spark who diagnosed that the 'pins' (imagine little strips of aluminium folder over on themselves) that held whatever wiring fed into the motor, had corroded. They simply stripped the wiring, attached new pins and the wipers are as new. This saved me from either a new ECU for wipers or more likely a new wiper motor at a minimum £110 (ebay) or £250 from Citroen.. I add this little tale so in case anyone gets told to simply buy a new wiper motor, and in this version of the c5 there are two of with separate motors, that maybe getting an auto spark for a closer look...in the end i paid £60...Hoy and Crowe Auto Electrics, Belfast
  11. ..Are you any further forward with this project...? had never considered that spot as a place for them but frankly its used for nothing else anyway. you get the sense that from the centre steering hub to the lack of cup holders that Citroen don't want u distracted from simply driving but we all like our creature comforts
  12. ..anyone got a working link to download the latest firmware for the citroen usb box, i think its v3.03 or similar...
  13. ok..so what i have is a '08 Mk III as you'd refer to it...so now im on the same page as everyone else
  14. ..does this forum appear on the Tapatalk app or is there a way to view this forum on the app that I haven't figured out...the site is fiddly on a smart phone otherwise..
  15. ..right, so the X stands for the redesigned platform for the current C5, that makes mine X7 '08..ta muchly all.
  16. Hi all I haven't been back here in ages but once again i have another C5. This is just a quick thing about how we're referring to the models...so u have C5 I II and III < that last model being the last iteration of the facelifted more rounded shape. I now have the '08 'wedgier' edgier shape but i think i've seen it referred to as X something, the number after it being the year of manufacturer yes, is this what we're doing, so in my case itd be a C5 X8...or does this mysterious X mean something else. i do have actual questions to pose but i also want to be speaking the same language.... Cheers all

  19. ..ahhhh wish i'd seen this a few days ago.... i've a new born that i want to protect from the sun whilst in its car seat and thought i'll get a parcel shelf roller blind as i had in my Xantia..cue Ebay.. ..my late 03 C5 Vtr it seems isn't the same as a standard c5 hatch given that i've the rear screen wiper housing that i didn't take into account..so now i've a parcel shelf i can't use <_<

Afternoon all so i'm to be a new dad in the new year, i'm currently driving a late (Nov 03) Mk1 C5 Hdi VTR...i was concerned as to whether i had isofix fixing points in the car but have successfully located them. i was wondering if anyone could advise the best "systems" to invest in and whether i'll need an adapter or not? the plethora of gear available is staggering! Cheers
