  1. Dear C3 friends, The child locks will stay on for 30 mins after vacating and reentering the car. They cannot be made to stay on permeantely, according to my dealer - Freeborn of Southampton. This would seem to be a triumph of technology over convenience!! Richard (the organist)
  2. Dear C3 list friends, (C3 1.4Hdi 16v exclusive) The metallic 'clattering' noise coming from underneath the car was, as I thought, the plastic undertray, underneath the engine. My car has just had its 1500 mile 'check' and the technician has re-fitted the undertray and the rattle has completely disappeared. Richard (the organist)
  3. Dear C3 friends, (C3 1.4Hdi 16v exclusive) Radio will work for up to 30 mins (after switching of the ignition) without the key in the car. Then the 'eco' mode will cut in and switch it off to conserve battery power so that it isn't left on all night, for instance. Richard the organist
  4. Dear List friends, Has anyone discovered the 'flashing' courtesy light yet? Hmm - maybe not. I did by accident today - I drove off with the passenger door not closed fully, and not only did a horrendous noise emit from the warning system but the courtesy light flashed on and off madly - another rewirte for the owner's manual I think. Also had to do my first emergency stop today, (from only 25mph) and BOY did the thing stop! The Hazard Warning Lights came on automatically, as they should. The speed at which the thing stops seems also to be related to the SPEED at which you depress the pedal, not necessarily how HARD you press it. Best regards, Richard the organist
  5. Dear C3 Friends, I think that the safety aspect of this feature far outways the negligable risk outlined by mooseshaver - How many drivers have you seen driving around with no lights on because they have forgotten to switch them on? - especially in town! Richard the organist
  6. Dear C3 friends, C3 1.4HDi16v Exclusive Does anyone know how to get the child locks to stay on permanently. I know that they operate from the switch on the dashboard, but it is often a case for REMEMBERING to do it. It would be so much safer if they could defult to permanently locked. Richard
  7. Dear All, The knocking you describe is coming almost certainly from the protective (admittedly rather flimsy) tray underneath the engine. It is secured with what look almost like screws, but, in reality, tun out to be a press-stud. If these studs (there are about 10 of them) are in any way loose, the tray looses any structural integrity it might once have had and rattles and vibrates like hell! Mine does it to, although I haven't taken it back to the garage yet, as it is only 400 miles old, but will mention it at the 150o mile check and will let you know what they think. Richard
  8. Dear All, (C3 1.4 Hdi 16v Manual EXCLUSIVE - 400 miles old) The Steering wheel does vibrate a little (especially on the Diesels), as far as the Click from the clutch is concerned, it is the microswitch which controls the cruise control shut-off. As far as the radio is concerned, I have had no problem with mine at the moment, it seem to remember all its presets. Richard
  9. Dear all, the moduboard is a great idea As an organist, I can hide my portable church organ under the moduboard and put other stuff on top without damaging the keyboard. It also contains things and stops them scudding around the boot. Richard
  10. This is because the automatic rain-sensing control unit needs to 'reset' itself. It is working correctly.
  11. Hi all! I have discovered another"automatic" function on my C3 1.4HDI Exclusive (200 miles old and nothing has broke yet!) in that if you have the rain-sensitive wipers enabled, the rear wiper will automatically come on when you select reverse gear, irrespective of the manual control position for it. Yet another function which has not made it into the owner's manual. - I could completely rewite it at this stage! Regards, Richard
  12. Dear All, Model: C3 1.4 16v HDi Exclusive Whilst I was at my freindly Citroen Dealer, (yes, our dealer in Southampton IS good and knowlegeable) the other day, finding out about the speedometer changeover between miles and kilometers (see post) he also explained how to get the headlights to switch on automatically without having to remeber. What you have to do is: 1 Turn ignition key to ACCESSORIES position, 2. Press button on END of lighting/indicator stalk until you hear a confirmation noise ('bong!') 3. That's it...... the lights DO come on automatically but ONLY when the engine is running. I drove through a small tunnel under the M3 yesterday and the lights came on and went off automatically. I would imagine that the function is only available to modles fitted with the rain-sensitive screen wipe system, assuming that the sensor is shared with it, mounted on the windscreen.
  13. Deal all:, I have answered my own question re the above and you do not have to take the car to a dealer. This is how to change the display from MPH/KPH: 1. Set the ignition to ON (not accessories) 2. Set the milometer display to read TOTAL distance (not TRIP because you will inadvertantly zero the display) 3. Depress and hold BOTH the resetting trip button AND the night-time panel illumination buttons at the same time and wait for the display to flash between MPH and KPH 4. Use the trip reset button to select the unit of measurement required (mph/kph and miles/kilometers) 5. The readout will now conform to the new unit of measurement.
  14. Dear all! Having read many of the post regarding this car (I have a brand-new C3 1.4 diesel HDI Exclusive) does anyone know how to switch the speedo readout to KPH from MPH. I'm sure that there is a "trick", but the manual does not explain. I should say that I am absolutely delighted with the car (80 miles old now!)
