  1. If Citroen are offering the job for that price then go with them, seems daft to go to an independent if they are charging more! Citroen are doing reasonable deals fore older cars.

    Ecu?

Does anyone have a spare working Magneti Marelli ECU IAW6LP1.08 lying around? The garage needs it to run a test to confirm my ECU is at fault?
  3. Is there a way of or a company who can diagnose a C5 ECU? 2004 2.0 petrol sx

    Ecu?

Hi, and thanks for the reply, I had a new coil pack six months ago, do you think it possible for the ecu to be diagnosed? I have tried several ecu-doctor included and I am being told they can't do the C5 ecu, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Ecu?

Hi, my 2004 2.0 16 valve C5 Auto (gas converted) (80,000 miles) had the anti-pollution light problem with no performance problems, however on a run out one evening the car just started running really rough (felt like only 2 or 3 cylinders were firing! The car was telling me there was a cat fault, however on inspection the cat appeared fine the matrix still in place, the garage initially thought the timing belt had slipped but that was fine then they suggested that the drive plate had cracked or the crank had gone so they took the gearbox out but found no problems! Now they are saying it's the ECU? (not a citroen garage) So i had a chat with Citroen at Small heath Birmingham and the tech was saying something about fluid and filters and it would cost between £6 or £700 quid to sort? Does the petrol engined model have the same system as a hdi? I am confused to say the least, I know the cold start air injection pump is faulty but surely that wouldn't cause a severe malfunction would it? You cant run the engine to run a diagnostic so the garage is struggling, I don't particularly want to spend a grand to sort it on top off what I have amounted so far, any ideas please? Mart

    Auto Problems

Hi, thanks for the helpful dialogue, I have been experiencing this fault when the box is cold, the tech reckoned the oil was the original by the state of it, but that could also indicate knackered clutches too? Box has only done 70k! But like you the fault clears right up after restarting, also one other piece of info which seems strange the garage that is diagnosing these problems fixed my antipolution light problem however the little blighter showed up again last week but whilst the light was on the gearbox didn't play up? When the light cleared itself which it does the gearbox fault returned? The ecu's for both engine and box do not work independently of each other do they, they work with one another is that correct? If so there may be a clue there too. Cheers Mart
  7. Thanks Ronin, great list, i will copy the brum one cheers! Mart ;)
  8. Hi johnnyb, i have the 2litre petrol auto and have noticed that the consumption goes up and down like a newly weds nightie! but at a steady sixty the display informs me i am getting between 40 and 50mpg!? How accurate this gizmo is i have no idea but i am pleased with the consumption so far but not pleased with the price of the ruddy fuel! Getting it converted to gas soon! Cheers Mart
  9. Hi everyone, rejoined the citroenworld last Saturday (24/5/08) by bying a C5 on an 04 plate, nice Sx auto, only 44500 on the clock, my question is does anyone know of a good independant citroen garage in the black country wolverhampton bilston etc? I noticed there was one in Wolverhampton as i sped past on the train the other week but didnt have time to get the details! Cheers Mart
  10. Howdy, just picked up an C5 2.0l SX Auto on an 04 plate, nice motor, but then again i have only had it a few days so i will have to get used to it! Cheers Mart
  11. Ok so i am asking! Why do you HAVE to change the pipes on the HDI pump when it fails? And why do you have to change the injectors? Seriously though, my car has been at the garage for 7 MONTHS after a second hand pump was installed after 3 days it failed with the most horrible crunching and grinding noises coming from it, me thinks that said garage stuffed up in some way and is now trying to worm their way out of sorting it! They re-used the old pipes when citroen stipulate that they should NOT be used under any circumstances, guess what!!! Yes the garage re-used them and i have a dead Xantia and nobody wants to take responsibilty. A warning to everyone out there in citroen land ALWAYS take it to a Bosch approved agent if indeed you have a Bosch system, take it to citroen unless you dont want change from 2000 pounds! And dont take it to the bloke down the road who says yep mate fix that no problem! Mart, I am missing that smooth ride ( current car Suzuki Baleno rides like a horse and cart but without the comfort))
  12. Hi Ronin, thanks for that mate really helpful, i have a friend in the dealer business and he is keeping an eye out for a good un, might take a couple of months though, i can wait as long as the diff on the suzuki holds out!? If anyone is interested view my blog! http://c5knowhow.blogspot.com/ Cheers
  13. hi 72dudes, thanks for the reply, yes i see what you mean, but i am coming away from diesel as i think the price for diesel is disgusting over 1.20 per litre  compared 49p for gas, i know about the HPI and will avoid like the plaque  the only other problems i have been advised about is the overheating problem with the conversion and having to have the valves re-seated every 20,000 miles  however, so i have been told it's a simple adjustment from factory settings for the valves to a leaner burn, and it only takes 20 minutes, bonus  And the other problem is the rear brakes on the petrol version which if not attended to by a bit of copper grease on the relevant parts will give a lot of problems :( Still at the erm'ing and aaahing stage! Cheers
  14. Hi to everyone, new member here although i have owned a slew of Citroens over the years. My Xantia died after an infection of bio-diesel (pump tatered) got a Suzuki Baleno knacker at the moment (like riding a horse drawn cart but without the comfort) I am currently considering a C5 2.0L petrol and doing the old gas conversion thingy on it and getting me fuel for 49p a litre :P Now can any of you good people advise on the old C5? i am thinking of a second hand jobbie on an 02 plate mileage below 60,000 for little cash  Also does anyone know any good independant specialists in or around the Black Country mucka  Erm i think that about covers it, any help and or suggestions will be gratefully recieved. Cheers Smarty
