We have one of the earliest 1.4HDi 16v C3s - 2002/52. Last week the fan died after going through a flood. A catastrophic failure that blew the wires off the back of the unit! The original fan is connected by 5 wires: a 2 wire plug carrying permanent +/- 12v, and a 3 wire plug for the control/signal etc. wires. The parts from Citroen are too expensive for an old car, so I've been trying to find another solution. My friendly local garage kindly ordered a fan through their supplier but what arrived (although correctly labelled C3 2002-> aircon etc.) was a basic Valeo 2 wire fan i.e. nowhere to plug the second connector. So.. does anyone know if later models (and fan replacements on earlier models) have a separate external relay/resistor module, and if this is compatible with our early C3's two fan connectors, allowing fitment of a standard cooling fan? I've found this 'C3 radiator fan resistor' Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280544637990 I can see where our 2 connectors would connect but I don't know what the fan connection is like. Does anyone know if this could be the missing part that I need?
