  1. Thanks to all for your responses. Ended up going with my usual independent local garage - always been good in the past. 1st service came to the grand total of £75 including parts and labour. Oil filter changed, new oil and an all over check. The car has only done 7500 miles in the year, so thankfully nothing needed replacing. One thing picked up on was my front passenger side Disc, totally and utterly rusted to hell. The local garage are ringing up the dealership I bought the car from tomorrow to check out the warranty situation. The break isn't dangerous to drive on, but they have noted it down as a precaution more than anything. Guy at the garage thinks the car probably sat on a forecourt for sometime prior to being sold, and wind + rain have hit only that side. If warranty covers it, they'll do the work at no extra charge  Very very happy C1 owner. First year of ownership done & only £110 for tax and service.
  2. Has anyone gone through the first service and not gone to a dealer? I'm just interested to here of experiences because my local garage, who I always used for my old car, have said they can do the work and keep the warranty intact. He pointed me to this: http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/.../page38070.html
  3. Can anyone enlighten me as to the cost of the first service (prior to any parts or labour)? My C1 will be 1 year old in July/August, and I'll need to put the money aside to get it serviced. Due to the date of purchase I never had nor needed according to Citroen the 1k check up. Had no problems with the car thus far (touch wood), tires seem to be holding up well etc. Oil and water regularly checked and healthy. I know you get stung on the first service, so just wondering what the standard charge was?
  4. Was I just reading £55 a tyre!! I used to pay that for tyres on my 2L Vectra! I went to my local Pug dealer, and they had basic tyres for £20 each.
  5. I'm staggered by some of the numbers being quoted here. My first bar always drops around the 70 mile mark, and each bar after that drops around 65-75 miles later. I always fill up as soon as the last bar is reached & you get that beep, so I've no idea how long the car will last once that beep occurs. I average around 320-350 per fill up, with a fill being between £26-30 at current fuel costs. I make that around the 55mpg mark for consumption, which I felt was brilliant. The major downside to my journeys (50 mile round trip each day) is the amount of traffic & the large amount of hills. Having replaced a Vectra 2.0 which was doing around 170 miles for a £35 top up, I'm well chuffed with double the mileage.
  6. Is it part of the warranty?? Why wasn't I told!!!! Arggggggg I'm really worried now ;)
  7. On average I'm doing around 400 miles on a tank, if not a little less. What I havent tested yet is what a tank actually is......I get scared when I hit the last bar & the car beeps at me. ;) Anyone care to let me know how long I have left after that beep? Is there any more beeps when the petrol gets really low?!!!!! I think I worked out somewhere along the way that 420 miles is roughly 60mpg or there abouts (for £35 of fuel), so I reckon I'm in the high 50's. The car is getting better on miles for sure.
  8. Hi all. My C1 (2 1/2 months old), has just hit 1000 miles. Whats the score on check ups? I keep reading comments about a 1000 mile checkup, but I didn't get told about this when I bought the car......should I be having a service or something??!
  9. I just bought my C1 from Bristol Street Derby (I live on the southcoast). The whole deal was done through newcitroendeals.com. £6400 for a red Rhythm & they gave me £400 for my old car = £6000 flat for the Car. :P It was an extra £350 for metallic paint, but I didn't see the point. Originally I was looking at a Vibe, but at £6k the Rhythm with electric windows/remote central locking etc. was a bargain. Oh and if your wondering about the Derby to Southcoast problem - Bristol Street Trailer delivered it to my door for £50! They offered to drive it down, but that would have meant a few hundred miles on the clock not done by me, :o
  10. Hi all, Just got my C1 today, put a few miles on the clock, enjoyed a nice drive & then I get what I think is a problem. The passenger side window won't go up! After 5 mins with the engine off I finally manage to get the window up - pheewwwwww!!! But this isn't the first electrical issue I think I've noticed - does anyone elses C1 have a little judder when you turn the rear heater on? Or if you hold the window closed to long? I spent a little time turning the rear heater on then off, and each time the car would judder when it went on. Holding the electric window button when closing all caused the same thing. Add this to the window not shutting & I'm worried I'v got electrical issues. Can anyone ease my mind? Or maybe suggest what it could be?
  11. Hello all, Another soon to be C1 owner. I've just setup a deal to trade my aging Vectra 2.0l in & pay the remaining difference for a brand spanking new C1 Rhythm in the standard red colour. Deposit is paid, just waiting for the car to be built. I've been in the hunt for a new car for the best part of a year, but my biggest problem is my lack of car knowledge. After driving a friends aygo & then test driving a C1, I knew it would be the ideal car for my needs. I currently commute 30 miles a day in mostly bumper to bumper traffic & fuel in the Vectra is costing me in the region of £180 per month. Add to that the yearly tax which is soon to go up & my pockets are seriously hurting. Started seriously trying to buy a C1 from the local dealship, but walked out in frustration at what was frankly micky mouse style sales people. I was being offered £200 trade for my Vectra, they wouldn't budge on price, and then used terms such as 'what do expect its already cheap', ' if £7000 is out of your budget you might as well forget it'. I ended up finding a great website & a great help in Mike at New Citreon deals.co.uk. He managed to hook me up with a new C1 Rhythm in Scarlet red which with trade in on my vectra came to little over £6k. Car is being trailer delivered to my door as well, with collection of my Vetra same day. Can't wait! My first ever new car, bargain price, and hopefully much cheaper motoringfor a while. Nice to be part of the community!
