Maybe the Toyota owners are trying to justify the higher price they paid for the same car by 'talking it up' in the surveys. It also shows that using this kind of survey to help in choosing a new car isn't really the thing to do. Personally I won't be buying another one, it is fine for what it is but I find it tiresome on longer trips. Probably go for something a little larger and more comfortable, maybe a Polo or Fiesta. We'll see in a years time.

Where did the pug come? For a guess, somewhere in between !

Not much to do with this topic but .......... The Dutch word for parcel shelf is hooodaplank (probably not spelt like that) What a lovely word. Hopefully one of our Dutch friends will be along soon to correct my poor spelling.

Personally I use an independant MOT garage to service our C1. I buy the filter(s) from the local Toyota garage (cheaper and closer) and take them to the independant for fitting. The warranty is still valid, I have been back to the dealer twice in two years for a broken mirror adjuster and a window that wouldn't wind up straight - no problems either time and I don't expect there to be in the future. The warranty terms are there in black & white. If they p*ss me off, I wouldn't buy another car from them, it's not rocket science. You pays yer money and takes yer choice. The dealer cost for a C1 service far too much, we also have a 1 year old golf which I have just had serviced at the VW dealer and it was cheaper than the Citroen C1 service - amazing. I thought the VW would be far more. At the time of our 1st C1 service we owned an 02 Fiat Stilo, the same dealer offered to service that for £75. How can they charge £75 for an old 1.9 turbo diesel and £140 for a 1litre petrol ? baffles me.

From what you say it sounds as tho' the water is coming up through the floor in the area of the bung. especially as you aren't getting any water traces from anywhere else. Is the bung cracked, holed, damaged at all? You could take the bung out , blob a bit of silicon sealer around the hole and replace the bung. Leave to set. Water can get anywhere as it tracks along any ridge, weld or whatever. It will get thrown up by the wheels and the wind as you drive along will blow it up, down, in, out - anywhere really. Drive up on to a pair of ramps, get a pal to hose down the underneath while you sit in the car and watch for water ingress. I have had hours, nay days of fun trying to find leaks in Land Rovers products, but then the saying was 'the holes are for letting water out as much as letting it in' !

Thats real mean. Disconnecting and reconnecting may make matters worse as 'the system' could think there is a permanent issue with the airbags. I've had a quick look see on an Aygo forum, one instance of Airbag light flashing, he took it to the dealers who reset 'the system' and all ok from then on. It seems (from the Aygo forum) that the airbag light also indicates possible issues with seatbelt pretensioners. Also tried looking on 107 OC forum but you have to be a member to search - lost interest then. IMO a trip to the dealer and get it plugged in to the diagnosis machine (probably £50-£60), get it reset and see if it comes up again. You could also lean over the techies shoulder whilst he is doing the check and find out where all the bits and pieces are, or in other words, be nice to him!

I'd rather be driving. ;)

Get straight off to the Dealer and tell them it started on Christmas eve and you haven't been able to get there till now. Make sure they agree to fix it under warranty before letting them loose on it first tho'. I hope this isn't the start of many C1 Airbag light issues, it seems to have affected many many cars over the years.

Finally got round to finding out what our mpg is. 53 mpg, she drives 2 miles to work, I drive 10 miles - on alternate days. Occasional longer trips at weekends.

Aygo looks loads better. Where do the stylists/designers get their ideas from. I remember a Ford designer saying the Austin Princess (competitor to the Sierra) was a great big flying turd. You still see a few sierras about but very very few Princesses. Also BL/Austin/Morris etc have gone but Ford is still with us. Ford must have got something right, personally I thought the sierra was pug ugly too.

60 odd to the gallon, amateur stuff. Check this link out :- http://www.mpgmarathon.com/pressrelease2008.pdf Over 82 to the gallon in an Aygo on a run from Bristol - Macclesfield and back. Perhaps even more impressive is a 'vette getting over 30mpg. For those that can't be bothered to read the article, top honours went to a Yaris which managed 84.66 mpg.

If I remember rightly it is to be done in the first 1500 miles. So no problem. Read your service book for the definitive answer. Its a nothing service, there is no oil change like in the golden olden days. As TS says its just a check over, and replace anything thats fallen off. No service spanner on a C1, its a basic motor. No frills.

You will need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm mini jack cable. There are loads on ebay for a couple of quid inc postage. A mobile phone shop should also stock these. This will connect the headphone socket (of an ipod or other mp3 player) to the identical socket on the C1. Chose a length of cable to suit wherever you want to place your mp3 player in the car.

Help! Order Placed 4 Weeks Ago But Citroen Dealer Can't Get Me

Had an Alfa Spider for a couple of years, mainly to fulfill a lifetimes ambition to drive the Alps in an open sports car, after spending a small fortune sorting out the suspension and brakes (brakes come in useful in the mountains from time to time) we had 2 excellent holidays, the first in France/Switzerland/Italy the second mostly in Italy (the lakes) due to snow storms in Switzerland. During these trips the Alfa ran without fault, over the 2 years we owned it however, we always seemed to be paying out for various failings. Sold it and bought a Fiat Stilo JTD - ho hum - out of the frying pan ...... Apart from the regular elctrical issues it was and is an ok car. Son is driving it now, but moans because its a five door. Ungrateful so n so. -

Jezza didn't write body panels, he wrote 'body' possibly rather than 'internal monocoque' as most readers would glaze over with that phrase. He also says 'But since the two cars are made in the same factory, by the same people, I would therefore save the money and go for the C1' The problem with being a pedant is that it attracts other pedants ! I remember Top Gear with William Woolard, it was just soooo boring. Much prefer the current format. -

Thanks for this interesting insight 'behind the scenes' at Citroen. Its staggering how companies use as much new technology at the front, but round the back it is still quill and parchment. So where is all this over capacity in car manufacturing then, or has the closure of Rover sorted this !!! Or perhaps the manufacturers are building more cars that we don't want and fewer that we do. -
I think the servicing issue is hijacking this thread a little, but here is my tuppence worth. Both my local Citroen and Peugeot dealers had a service deal on this summer. £70 for a service, but only if the car was more than (I think) 3 years old. If the costs for servicing small car are the same as a larger car, why are the costs less for on older car ? It is of course a bit of a con as the dealer will find numerous faults that need fixing on the cheap old car service and get his money back that way. A new car won't (or shouldn't) have any faults so there is no way to sting the punter. When I bought my Golf earlier this year, VW did a 3 year servicing deal for £200, tore their hand off ! For the C1 we go to an independant for about £60. Back to the wing, ring round the local scrap yards, as you say red is probably the most popular colour and you might get lucky. The car isn't too old so shouldn't be difficult in getting off. Using the scrap yard one as a test bed so to speak.

But my point is that when I finalise the spec and pay the deposit, the saleman clicks Go on the computer, the factory instantly has that requirement for my car on its computers. With all the modern tech why does it still take months to get the car to the punter. I accept maintenance and upgrade to the production line and perhaps even a holiday shutdown may add to the delay but come on, not months. I remember seeing fields of cars years ago, if they didn't sell did they plough them in to the ground ? -

Why do we put up with this cr@p. With all this IT, 'just in time' delivery and manufacturing and so on, the customer still has to wait just as long as we did in the 70's for a new car. Even with new car sales down by nearly 20% this year there are still long delays to get what the customer wants. I can track a parcel from sender to delivery, but a car manufacturer hasn't a clue when exactly we can expect a delivery. They tell how much they have invested in all this new technology, well I want the product now not in 6 months time. ooo it makes me seethe !!! (can you tell) ;) -

Try some other dealers. Then try Peugeot and Toyota, but they may cost a bit more. These things should be 'off the shelf' they are so relatively cheap. Last year we bought a new C1, in the showroom Saturday, sorted my finance out in a few days and drove the car away on the Thursday. Having said that, bought a new Golf estate this year - had to wait 6 months for delivery. Bit of a rarer beast though. -
Just been out and started the C1. Nothing out of the orinary, just the normal sound of a little engine ticking over. Lifted the bonnet and still all fairly quiet. Why not go to a Citroen garage and ask for a test drive and see if it makes the same noises as yours. Or go to a car park and find a fellow C1 driver. No harm in asking for a comparison in rattles. Good luck

Must remember to get 4 tins of beans from Morrisons tonight !
