  1. 2.0 HDi 110 estate, May '02 registered,i bought it in Oct '04 with 85k on clock, 1 owner company car with FSH. fewer miles going on it the last 2 yrs, was a tankful+ per week at one time. just spent a fair bit on it so now keeping for a while, next major spend will be clutch as as far as i know it's still the original

  3. oh well, thoughts of a 'germanic' C5 now gone for a while...i think i've just spent more than it's worth :o both rear swing arm bearings, pads front & rear, rear calipers sorted again, aux belt, big service, 2 new tyres, air-con re-gas, exhaust blowing, MOT & a few other things. mechanic reckons it drives well for a 200k car, no major nasty noises, so may look into fitting cruise control, here's to the next 100k
  4. post #7 for a start......http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/index.php?showtopic=8180
  5. doesn't the chassis no. tell you engine code? seem to remember reading this somehere
  6. mine has a sticker on drivers door shut panel that says it's a 110, presumably this has gone? 2.0 HDi came as 90 or 110, 2.2 as 138? towing weights for estates are from memory 1500kg for manuals ? 2.2 auto is 1000kgs just remembered this...http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/citroen/citroen-c5-2001-estate
  7. i realise that but even with no PX listed at 15k, price to me, cash.....£14.5k  a whopping £500 off
  8. & the down side is residuals down the line. just for a laugh i've been looking at a vRS Octavia 170 diesel £15k. P/X on mine..... £300. and no i haven't missed any noughts off mores the pity '02 2.0 hdi estate, few dings but interior good, major stumbling block is mileage...200k, but for work it's worth a lot more than that i don't what list price was new but even private sale for an average miler is still in region of only 10% ?
  9. been a long time but i think....unclip radio surround then you'll see 2 torx/xhead screws, undo & pull out ?
  10. as the pic is now gone, what does the little pipe that runs from bulkhead to the front underside valve with rubber 135 deg elbow do? noticed today ( whilst putting in yet another H/L bulb! ) that this was off valve so pushed back in, hopefully it will solve my the sluggishness that's reappeared
  11. washer motor is buried low down behind d/s headlamp i think? access from underneath ? from memory diaphragm was £14 ish?
  12. me too, screen doesn't bother me any more. seem to recall the diaphragm on washer motor was split which gave the same symptoms?
  13. if its entered your thoughts, get it done. the garage may say 100,160k whatever, if it goes it's 1mile too far, more money to splash out
  14. has anyone had to swap or replace/repair the handle on rear seat? the plastic broke a couple of years ago, from memory it looks as though you have to strip material off to get inside? it sort of works still but have to use a screwdriver to pull catch back, not very convenient! failing that, anyone got a seat lying about that's no good to 'em?
  15. after swapping wheels around, on d/s front there is a coating of fluid which seems to have come from a small rubber pipe (which was detached) that runs from lower upright into a steel pipe near top & behind covers. i'm assuming its not pressurised as no clamps to be seen, push fit? is it some sort of return/overflow pipe ? suspension raises & lowers normally, car drives ok, further work needed?
  16. i'll 2nd that, you do it by feel the 3rd & 4th time around :) now on 10th ish bulb in 5 yrs
  17. finally got it back, new alternator, belt , labour etc £230 never knew the needle went round that far, i could be posting about boiling battery soon!
  18. i would assume so? real horrible noises last time drove it, brushes worn out & wire/spring only left, then went silent?. been out today to clean up grooves on pulleys & try to put old belt on temporary to get to garage. failed miserably, seems as though belt is 6" too long? stretched but not broken possible? i did put it around the 2 tensioners properly i assume ie smooth/outer discovered a bit of side play on power pump as well so will look at that, been a few odd noises from that when starting up
  19. oh well, surprise surprise..... went out earlier to start car ready for tomorrow, all ok, thought i'd turn it round & put battery on charge overnight...no power steering! open bonnet...belt hanging off, removed to look at it... no grooves left on it! looks like phone call to the 'non-drinkers' in the morning to see if if i can get it recovered to garage
  20. well mine has finally given up, squeaking & groaning this morning, at least the water system wasn't frozen! opened bonnet, thought about taking it off, 'F**k this...too cold', rang garage, in on the 30th luckily i've got 2 other cars to choose from :) not done too bad i suppose, not far off 8 yrs old & 191k
  21. 1 aux belt 1 aux tensioner 1 cambelt kit 1 water pump anti-freeze 1 crank pulley now sounds better! other stuff not done at as i needed car back asap so will get looked at next service the plastic tensioner wheel was looking a bit sorry, scuff marks & small gouges on inner of belt area. now to see if it all makes the 260-270k region <_<
  22. not a problem as such.....into the garage next week 188k & it's time for it's 2nd belt & tensioners etc, water pump as i can't remember it being done, usual crankshaft pulley noises starting so on will go no.5. rad fan not been working so whilst water being drained...thermostat? sensor? air-con not blowing too cold so also being looked at god knows what else'll flag up, apparently the garage has got some new kit! other than that it's running ok <_< i'll let you know the results next week
  23. i've had this happen to me, walk away from car & noticing that hi-level light very dim. brake warning & stop on dash whilst doing 80ish, it then felt like the car put it's brakes on & slowed to 70, very scary!! turned out i'd somehow managed to get a double filament bulb into the brake-light holder! swapped out for a proper one, hey presto, problem solved. i suggest you check all the bulbs, could well be water ingress or earthing problems as well as a multitude of other things seemingly not related to us mere mortals!
  24. can't help with the number, but with that sort of attitude it's time to tell 'em go whistle surely?
  25. hurray ! a fault that a C5 doesn't have :) i should put it in the C3 section
