what do you recommend for this then? oldish pic but you get the general idea http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8852/02030001nd3.th.jpg used to clean twice a year, MOT xmas & holiday june-ish but guess what happened one year ;)

in the last 2 years mine was playing up, sluggish, power on/off all the usual things but it never threw up any codes or mesages at all. had EGR cleaned several times, no better. last service changed MAF, cured it. my fuel consumption never really altered too much from when i had it, but now does 550-600 per tank as against 500-550

2.0 110 hdi, may '02 currently on 166k and rising at 500m a week heater resistor, 3 crank pulley's, 2 belts, rear discs, MAF meter, radiator, rear screen glass, side glass, windscreen, rear ex box, approx 6 headlamp bulbs to mention a few things! due for front discs and poss susp fluid change soon? update: MOT ok, tyes bit close to limit, drivers seat base came apart needing welding, replaced n/s rear undertray lost when fell apart in snow earlier this year and also replaced steel crossmember under sump

air flow meter 3 screws & jubilee clip, connector, 5 mins? intercooler don't know
-
don't rule out blown bulbs, think i'm on 3rd or 4th each side, never had a fuse go yet
-
mmmmm.....only about 12m for me  have to have a think, away in France over w/e
-
quick update: looks like i'll be getting 50+ miles per tank extra with everyday mixed driving, 600+ instead of 550ish. quick calculation in slow brain, 10% ish? as that well known supermarket says...'every little helps'
-
after having all the loss of power, surging, etc for approx 2 yrs on & off, i'm now back to normalish  messing around under bonnet last week, thought intake pipe was a little loose, phoned up my mech. who then remembered he should have replaced MAF at last service but wasn't in when i picked up car. MAF replaced, £100, now drives how i remember it when first had it. pulls in all gears easily, nicer all round. i think sometimes you just get used to things without realising it.

if your pump is dead, then why not take it off & take it to compare at breakers?
-
don't all C5's drop above a certain speed anyway?
-
42 not too bad, i get this with mixed driving, estate with weight of approx 2 adults always onboard and 160k on clock. doubt i'd get much more even at constant 65mph? generally get 550 miles on tank =42ish to get 45 you'll need to do 600 ish, 50 about 650+ miles ? the C5 in any form isn't exactly lightweight & 110bhp won't set the tarmac on fire

if you can hear pump & have cleaned out jets, it could be the diaphragm on pump? mine stopped working couple of times, well one side ok the pass side a dribble. haven't got a clue why or how above works, mechanic did it for me, from memory diaphragm was about £10? hang on, brainstorm!! think diaphragm keeps up pressure in pipes so no delay in water coming out?

al hdi's should have damped pulley prob if nothing in centre all the rubbers fallen out, garage showed me one like it which was noisy then went quiet
-
yep, mine did same. not whole strip approx 1/3 of width very dim
-
might seem bizarre, but... check your brakelight bulbs! had this 2 yrs ago, 80 ish, car braked on its own slowed to 70 ish, scared me to death! turned out i'd somehow got a stop/tail bulb into a single filament bulb holder causing gremlins on the brake circuit
-
immob fault/ key transponder? try putting in C5 section
-
if its the resistor, most common prob, then just pay yourself, £50 for part? excess on policy? prob take half hour tops to fit
-
take no notice what handbook says...key words here are in book...'depending on country' or on similar lines
-
cover behind the battery cover. take off battery cover, pop fastener at front, 2 prong clips at rear. 4 quarter turn clips hold fuse cover on
-
if its 'following' up try raising susp to max height then unhitching? if its an estate use the switch in boot to lower rear from normal height?
-
not me personally neither anyone who runs a car on it but... one of my customers runs approx 15 tractor units, just bought 1000L to try, mixing with existing fuel, first week 2 breakdowns! both appear to be probs with viscosity of fuel ie too thick causing plastic fuel pipes to collapse as the pumps struggle to suck fuel through. do cars push fuel ie pump in tank? maybe not an issue?
-
you'll know if you've got corrosion, the pads will be worn at an angle not square
-
mine will be 6 yrs old May, prob have 160k+ on it, & is slowly but surely falling apart  last cleaned Easter, real workhorse, does what i need it to do. would i buy another one?... err prob not, too many potential probs even with the later cars although i do like the look of the new one out this year

try Carters Cars New progress Drive, back of the Chase college in bridgtown, opp TA 01543 571418 my car always goes in there, maybe if you're local someone will come out & look?

shows what halfruds know! changed mine no problem, didn't bother with leads for controls. search t'internet for units, way cheaper!
