  1. didn't hit the wheel as such, where the outer & inner parts are welded together, at start/finish of weld there is a small raised 'blob' this is what was catching enough to make noise. wheel is painted black, 'blob' was shiny where paint was rubbed away by caliper catching
  2. this is most likely cause, mine went summer last year. whilst in france on hols got puncture rear d/s. put spare on & got a knocking noise  turned out that 'blob' at start/end of weld on inside of spare wheel was catching caliper might be worth trying this as it doesn't need much movement of caliper
  3. anyone have problems with car just before/after service? sure mines haunted, 1st service, afterwards 12v/suspension switch stopped working- fuse blown- discovered after pulling out every fuse! don't trust manual layout of fuses 2nd service, washer pump stopped working before , headlight bulb blew shortly after, aircon/fan blower packed up - resistor had blown 3rd service, headlights, both, blew 1 day before, picked car up tonight hit rock or brick at side of road, puncture!! i know its only coincidence .. but car runs ok between servicing
  4. ditto.. i think at 160+ i'd live without the comp, not a lot on there that you need day to day?
  5. update: twas only crank pulley after all.. phew! £ 130 all in so x fingers all ok
  6. cheap ain't always best, supposedly had belt, pulley & all tensioners done @ 100k 18 months ago. 33k later, just about limped home tue night, alternator not charging , no p/steering, burning rubber & noises like a tank on steel tracks whilst driving.found piece of metal wrapped around suspension mount that looks suspiciously like one edge of crank pulley and i suspect that either alternator, p/ steering pump or air con compressor has seized work wasn't done at main stealer but parts were 'supposedly' citroen, hmmmm... looks like a bleak xmas, alternator 200+,power pump 100+? can get new compressor for around 300 luckily but still gonna add up! will let you know results after car goes in tue to my new garage who have done 2 services for me so far
  7. had same prob with boot switch / socket . check fuses, but don't trust handbook as to which fuse is which ! just pull 'em all out 1 by 1 from memory 15amp blue in glovebox? whilst towing caravan in france this year temp gauge went skyward with 38deg plus temps going uphill, aircon went off first then computer flashed warning on display. would say not to worry too much about gauge over winter. no doubt someone will prove me wrong?
  8. same as me, cleaned out pipes, worked for a while. when serviced replaced diaphragm part of pump, all ok. off top of head about £12 for part
  9. sorry, should have said that i only want to remove it to clean it, not take off completly
  10. anyone done this? or if not can anyone tell or show pic of valve so i can try it?
  11. spoken today to garage that services my car, most likely to be EGR valve sooted up, suggested take apart & clean, quite common, not only on PSA cars. now all i have to do is find EGR valve!!
  12. got same problem :D just back from france with caravan, real struggle sometimes waiting for power to kick in. seemed to help by backing off acc. a touch, overfuelling? at first put it down to heat & towing, but back now still same running solo. have also lost 'whistling' noise that i could hear fron N/S dash. intercooler probs?
  13. anyone removed their rear passenger glass? seems that glass is attached with clip of some kind? special tool needed? & no i'd like to remove myself to tint windows before anyone suggests going to a windscreen centre :D
  14. hi all, just a few questions & comments: just purchased 02 C5 110 HDi estate 85k 1 owner fsh £6300 high miles but price reflects that read some posts: my lights flicker- annoying but seems no solution? rear hatch lock: lower- doesn't always shut properly, rubber behind catch keeps dropping. Glass catch doesn't open, presume it's elec switch? fuel consumption: computer says 37-38, my calc says nearer 40. all mixed driving with trestles on roof 50% of time. biggest problem is will not rev over 4250 rpm. been told could be fuel filter clogged, is this a common prob with HDi engines? it's a little hesitant off mark but ok when turbo cuts in & up to 4250 but then seems to run out of steam. might seem a lot of probs but i am very happy with car dave
