  1. Drive more carefully then!
  2. Yay! Time to get imaginative! Register it off-road and use it for racing! Strip the mother down! Anyone asks about the back? "Sports stiffened suspension!" http://www.citroen.com/NR/rdonlyres/F4C27543-3567-4470-BFBF-64832FC3CB06/16962/Zx_rallye.jpg I said hey Ron, take a drive on the wild side! (I know it's a ZX and not an XM, but it's the closest I could find.)
  3. There ya go! Wozza, world expert on head.
  4. :D Ow, just 'ow'.
  5. Head is so hard to get in the car, but it's worth it in the end. (I am soo gonna get banned.) :D
  6. So I know I have 2cv's on the brain, but I found these pics and had to share 'em. http://www.citroen.mb.ca/june00/50ans2cv/img0047.jpg Showing that it IS POSSIBLE to pick up chicks with your 'duck'. http://www.citroen.mb.ca/june00/50ans2cv/img0070.jpg Jacques had soon learned that putting helium in your tyres was NOT a good idea after all. http://www.citroen.mb.ca/june00/50ans2cv/img0088.jpg "Okay, you did very well, but I suppose when I said 'turn right at the bridge' I should have been more specific."
  7. http://home.zonnet.nl/CitCity/2CV/waterrace2cv2.jpg They seem to take to it like a duck to water. But if you want an off-road 2cv, then . . . http://www.ptsdevelopments.com/images/350DSC00694.jpg
  8. No, this is unusual http://home.zonnet.nl/CitCity/2CV/waterrace2cv4.jpg Town in France heard about the tax-credits you can get if you take your 2cv off the road (In some kind of governement effort to clean up the image of France, they set out to get rid of as many 2cv's as possible.) so the town had taken their ducks off road and used the money to race 'em on water.
  9. The story as I understood it. Paris-Dakar in a 2cv. Strayed onto world war one minefield. Boom. real metal ladder chassis protected the driver. Took what was left that worked and made this http://french.cars.free.fr/moto2cv/images/moto2cv.jpg Finished race, took 'bike' home, got it checked out by road authorities and registered it as a roadworthy bike. Rides it to 2cv meets. Look real close you can see the license plate he registered it under.
  10. Why not? The plastic STONE GUARD in my 'casso apparently came off 'cause I drove through a puddle. CITROEN! STOP USING PLASTIC! *Grumbles.* never had that kinda problem with my old 2cv.
  11. Reckon it's just toe-in, and if you're driving just yourself (Shame on you - carpool) then your own weight (Let's face it, if you're under 100lbs, you need to see a doc) would be enough to give the driver side tyre more say as to where the car is going than the passenger side, therefore it'll have less lateral motion than the passenger side. Just a thought. I remember that a Citroen garage said 7 degress of toe-in was acceptable for my AX. I heartily disagreed.
  12. Drive slower? :D Get a louder stereo? Or perhaps, take it to a Citroen garage and have the work inspected? http://www.ubercoolies.com/forum/uploads/post-8-1122933845.jpg
  13. Keep in mind that if the vehicle is lighter, that doesn't mean it'll be easier on the gas while towing. Possibly the opposite. If it's built to carry a lighter load normally then it'll probably be less prepared to pull additional weight. Also the key thing about pulling is that you should not pull more than the towing vehicle weighs, otherwise stopping becomes a real issue, even with an electronic brake controller. I speak from experience of customers walking into my U-Haul office looking to pull a full size 1 ton pick up with a down-sized quarter ton van. I've had occasions where they've lied to me and said they're pulling a lighter load and suddenly gotten a phone call seeking help when the load turns out to be something twice as heavy as they've said and they've got done screwed it up hard against a lamp-post. Basically, lighter is not always better. http://www.projectbronco.com/Cartoon/boat_truck.jpg Don't let this be you.
  14. If this is for camping holidays, Might I suggest http://freebornmotorhomes.com/images/db_photos/OUTLOOK%5EE.jpg
  15. Erm . . . C5 . . . looks like a shoe? That not good enough reason to avoid it? I just reckon that the large sedans were never Citroen's strongpoint since the CX. Look at the BX, XM, Xantia to see my point. Citroen were much better at making small cars after they stopped producing the SM's and ID's.
  16. The boy needs some humility. Get a 2cv. Learn the joys of a low-tech low-power car.
  17. Doesn't need wider gears, however, it could do with an overdrive and torque converter. The Picasso has a 2.0 HDi. It sucks more balls than a Panamanian bordello. 20 less ponies than the smaller 1.6 HDi.
  18. Well, I've had no problems at all with the 1.6 HDi 16v The only downside is that it's not available in the base model. You have to go to at least a Desire to get it. Saying which the Desire is a fairly comfortable car. One tank got us from Lanark Scotland to RAF Mildenhall with enough left to get us lost and drive clear out to the coast East of mildenhall and turn back. (Yeah, so GPS might have been an idea . . . ) But it's sporty, practical, comfortable and economical. It gets my vote and it's not just because I drive one.
  19. Taken by camera phone in Somerfields. http://www.ubercoolies.com/forum/uploads/post-8-1127768388.jpg Please post your captions here.
  20. Ah, so my little '05 'casso is okay then?
  21. I've had the clutch cable snap on me before in the middle of the night. Had to drive home with the clutch engaged all the way. Timing each of the changes just right so I wouldn't be left with a toothless 'box. Now if it is just the clutch cable, you should not have to replace the clutch. The problem would be the mechanism, not the plates. It sounds like you need to replace the cable. That's what I had to do. What I don't understand is why would the clutch pedal be rock hard. When the cable went in the AX the pedal dropped to the floor. Best to grab your haynes, your 2-ton trolley jack, 2 axle stands and get a good look under girlfriends front end. :D
  22. You see, it's not cheap - it's inexpensive :D Yeah! And it's not 'wheel-trims' it's 'wheel embellishments'! The new Citroen marketing department will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
  23. Have no idea. I've never tried anything that insane. (Well . . . orange concentrate and whisky in a 2cv, yeah, but . . . )
  24. *Shrugs.* fuctifano. Basically they brought my car in, hooked it up onto the net and gave it back to me. Something about a software glitch that doesn't maximise the car's potential. Didn't get around to Dyno-testing it, but I got a pic on my phone of 127mph in it. (Just have to figure out how to send it to my e-mail.) (Erm, on track, off road . . . of course . . . constable.) :D
  25. Nope. Just got the thing about the new software. What years are being recalled? Or is this just right across the board?
