Does the Xantia V6 have an engine knock sensor? I'm wondering about the possible advantages (performance, economy) of using 98/99 RON petrol as opposed to standard 95. Anyone with a V6 have experience of this?

Have now fitted a standard filter, having changed my mind about forking out for a K&N. Seems the latter doesn't filter as well as is claimed. See: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm

I'm now embarrassed. I was fooled by the external shape of the housing - at a glance it looked as though it couldn't accomodate a filter of that size. Closer inspection revealed I was wrong. Sorry to waste your time.

Just acquired a '98 Xantia 3.0i V6. Want to change the air filter among other things. Trouble is, the one sold by GSF is far too big - it's about 50% too long. Also checked the K&N website, and the one they show (same part no. as listed for most other Xantias) is also far too long - looks the same size as the one sold by GSF. Any help appreciated.
