  1. Thanks for the reply. Yes I have tried this, but it just seems to make the situation worse. It is a sedan, not an estate.
  2. Thanks for the reply, so are you suggesting that I do or do not apply the handbrake? I am not sure what you mean by "the overrun".
  3. I recently had brakes fitted to my boat trailer which in turn meant a new coupling. I now have a problem where the coupling does not want to let go of the tow ball when I am trying to unhitch the trailer. The coupling works fine on other vehicles. It appears that the car is "following" the trailer up as I lift the trailer, and the hitch requires no weight on the ball to release. I have tried standing on the tow bar and this occasionally works. I have tried lowering the suspension down to the lowest height but again the car just follows it up and eventually crashes to the ground with a very disconcerting thump, and once even came up with a suspension fault warning - which fortunately went away. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what (other than changing the design of the coupling) can be done about it?
  4. I guess I shouldn't complain about the price of the Michelins when diesel is at £0.53 a litre including our road user tax! Sounds like I may as well go for the Bridgestones, the Michelins have chewed themselves out in 30,000Km - which I don't consider to be very good. However I do drive over some very windy steep bush (forest) roads every day to get to work, and our roads are generally made from a volcanic chip which tends to be pretty hard on tyres. Thanks for all the help anyway. Rick
  5. I live in New Zealand where I know that Michelin tyres are going to be expensive, but I have just been quoted GBP213.00 per tyre for two new front tyres. I have a 2005 2.2 HDi Exclusive. The tyres are 215-55x16 XSE type tyres and they look pretty specialized. My question is do I really have to go with them or could I put some good Bridgestones or something els on that are under half the price. What do the people think? Cheers Rick
  6. Yep, sorry I got the 3000rpm it wrong, it normally pulls from about 1500. I wondered if the problem was that the turbo had not really spun up to speed by the time I put my foot down. I tried to rev the engine a little in neutral first and this seemed to help. I will check again. However there is certainly no chance of wheel spin from standstill. There also appears to be some sort of clicky button under the accelerator, does this do anything or just tell me to back off?
  7. Now I know that my 2005 2.2 HDi is not the fastest thing on four wheels, and I know what to expect when I take off from the lights, and I know that it really only starts to pull at about 3000rpm. But here is a curious thing... Every day when I head home from my office I have to turn out onto an 80Km/H dual carriageway. Therefore I sometimes need to accelerate away from the impending traffic heading up my exhaust. The entrance from our office to this road has quite a downhill slope to it, followed by an uphill slope immediately on the road. All of this happens within a space of about 7 metres. When I try to accelerate (even with my foot flat to the floor) there can be a nerve racking delay of up to 3-4 seconds before there is any response from the engine. This does not happen under any other circumstances and I can only put it down to the downhill slope followed by the immediate incline uphill. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Cheers Rick
  8. Does anyone have the C5 manual in PDF format? It would be greta to have a searchable version.
  9. I am a new owner of a 2005 C5 Exclusive and loving it. Great to be back in the Citroen fold after many years away. I previously had a number of D series in various guises. I am just curious about where the rain sensor is located and how it works. When someone has the time can they enlighten me?
  10. Tell me more about this Z pattern of which you speak. Also is there anyway I can adjust the Xenon headlights? I live in an unlit country area but frequently have to dip my lights for on-coming cars and find the low beam setting does not have enough reach.
