  1. No worries, funnily enough I had to change the bulb the other day and forgot how I did it :-/ but thanks to this thread I soon remembered ;)
  2. Yeah, no further forward... still top it up every other week and watch it leave its mark on my drive and parking space at work :( Coastline did offer his assistance in this and did try to organise things but for one reason or another it didn't quite happen. As it stands I'll be picking a garage local to me after Christmas, take it in and get just pay to get it fixed but I won't be using Citroen as they've well and truly p****d me off with all the correspondence I've had with them or for that matter buy another citroen :( and I love my C5.
  3. Hi, just an update on this... Had the car in 2 garages, one the mechanic then took ill and was/is off work, he was getting a price for the work. The second an indepenant Citroen/Pug garage... they tried to replace the seal but couldn't stop it 100% but it wasn't leaking so badly, ended up taking to Citroen dealer for price and they quoted £1633 to replace the stearing rack and some other pipe attached to that. The funny thing is Citroen are saying the leak is from where the 2 pipes join i.e. where the rubber seal is but insist on replacing the 2 pipes I've complained to Citroen UK and they stand by their dealer. I rang the independant Citroen garage to quote for this job too but have not returned my calls. My options are to find a new garage willing to do the work and cheaper or trade in and go back to my usual choice of VW's :)
  4. That's very kind. I'll speak to the garage involved and take it from there. I'm thinking I'll buy the O rings (can't come in wrong) and let him decide if he can manage it. I'll keep you updated and thanks again.
  5. South Tyneside
  6. Interesting link that coastline but after reading Paul's message I wonder if my local garage know what they are doing or how I'd suggest he uses these rings? Coastline, can you recommend a decent garage in the North East for Citroen issues?
  7. Hi, My C5 (2008 tourer) is losing fluid from the power steering fuid. I've had it in my local garage and and he said the seals on the pipes are gone but to get a replacement seal he has to buy the whole pipes to do this as not sold seperately. He hasn't gave me a price as yet but listening to him, he sort of gives the impression it's around £500. Would I be better taking to a citroen dealer or specialist or will I be faced with the same issue of having to buy pipes I don't need for the seals?
  8. Hi, Looking at changing my rear pads but need to pick up a rewind tool to make sure I do it properly. However, I've read that the left and right hand sides wind a different way so in effect I need 2 tools (1 for left hand thread and one for the other). Can someone clarify this as it's probablycheaper to get done at my local garage if so. Thanks J
  9. Thanks for all the replies. Finally got round to doing it last night, the hairdryer worked but couldn't see any obvious holes as the unit as a whole is sealed apart from where the bulbs are housed. Anyway I'll see how it goes but maybe if it happens again look at replacing it. Jeff
  10. Hi, 58 reg Tourer, my back light has what looks like condensation on the inside of the lense. The lense itself looks solid and no obvious entry points. How easy is it to remove and either repair or replace? This is the section of the lense that goes down the side of the car not the one attached to tailgate. TIA
  11. Paul thanks for yesterday, did it no bother... funny how a bit of confidence in knowing what you're doing makes the job easier!
  12. Thanks Paul, Yes it does and to be honest I was trying that but I will give it a bit more umph! or have 3 shredded wheat in the morning :-) Thanks again
  13. Yeah, could see the wing nut wasn't too sure if it was part of the procedure but the users manual doesn't say anything. Trying to disconnect the electric plug was a problem as not too sure how to disconnect it and didn't want to apply too much force. Thanks though, I'll have another go in the daylight. Jeff
  14. Hi, Can anyone advise how to change the rear bulb in the tailgate? I've got the tailgate open and removed the cover but I can't seem to get much further. Any tips or know how? Its a 58 plate. Thanks Jeff

    Oil

Hi, I'm about to go on a long journey in my 2.0HDi Tourer and am taking a ltr of emergency oil, just in case anything happens. As such and it being for a top up I came across some oil I used to use im my petrol BMW (Castreol 0w/30) as a top up in an emergency would I be OK using this or should I buy some 5w/40 which I think I need (need to check manual). Thanks Jeff
  17. Yeah, it's halogen I'm afraid.
  18. Hi, For driving on the continent, do I need to stick beam benders on the glass lense or can you flick a switch behind the lights that will direct the beam as in some other cars? Jeff
  19. Aye, I can't see any anywhere. Wasn't sure if they lived in a different part of the car, thanks, I'll get onto the dealer tomorrow. Jeff
  20. Hi, Another question I'm afraid. Looking in the items that come with the spare wheel I can see the wheel nut release handle, Jack, Towing eye, bolt protector removal tool. However there is somthing that looks like a long screw, is that the centring tool? if so, how and when do you use it? I also have read to remove the wheels you need a anti-theft socket, where do I find that, as I can't see one in with the other tools. Thanks again. Jeff
  21. New to me, 58 plate. I set it to Auto and low and it basically pumps slightly warm air around the car. Driving with the window down is cooler!
  22. Thanks, with it being under warranty I'll get the garage to check it... or should I get one of those places to check it out first for free??? Not that I don't trust them of course ;-)It's coldish, just not icy cold as I'd expect. Jeff
  23. Great site, thanks! Yeah it states without :-( Jeff
  24. Hi, Am still getting to grips with my new 2.0 HDi VTR+ and have to say the AC is a bit of a lte down. I'm used to icy cold air when on a Lo setting but on my C5 it's just a little cold! I set it to Auto on Lo setting but I can't get it very cold. Can someone advise what the best setting is for fans, type of air cirulation and the like. Jeff
  25. Hi, Spoke to the garage and they claim it wasn't standard spec. Looking at the bumper, the holes are there but closer inspection it does appear the holes are there but just covered with dust caps for the want of a better word. Looks like I've been silly I'm afraid! Jeff
