  1. Had a go at removing the starter but no joy.Kwik fit took it out and the solinoid was faulty.New motor on for £221.
  2. ok thanks for the info,I will take a look tomorrow>
  3. Hi I hope I'm not repeating a thread but I've looked through and can't find any thing similar to my problem so hear goes! I run a 52 plate C5 2.2 hdi auto estate and recently have been having trouble starting the engine. When turning the ignition on there is a pause before the starter motor works, sometimes a second other times up to 10 seconds but whenever the starter engages the engine will fire. All dash lights and display stay as normal but the heater display goes out while the ignition key is turned until the motor kicks in.Once has the starter not worked after 10 seconds but did when I turned the ignition on and off quickly 3or4 times and the engine started.Any advice. Many thanks <_<
  4. I went to my local dealer for an M.O.T. plus 56,000 mile service. The car also needed diesel additive. The car was dropped off at 09.30.At 14.00 I get a phone saying that the additive was going to cost nearly £700[plus filter] and that the rear brakes needed replaceing at around £550!I was also told the service had yet to be done but the car had passed the M.O.T.So I paid for the work done and went to an indipendant in Bristol and got the fluid replaced for £170.Brakes are fine but will need doing soon, cost about £150.No need for the computer to be reset which the dealer said would have to be replaced. One thing,if the brakes needed all that work how did the car pass the M.O.T.? P.S.just to say the filterr was not replaced.
  5. Can you please tell me where the sensor is as my temp gauge is a bit iffy? Thanks.
  6. I had to replace my bulb a few weeks ago. I released the battery clamp and moved the battery back and up slightly,a second pair of hands would come in 'handy',and changed the bulb.Tight gap but doable.
  7. The box is connected to a large pipe running from under the engine cover to a small radiator in the FLH side of the bay so probable is to do with oil not water. What I did find though is a metal rod with a plastic end ,it is located just to the right(when looking at the enginefrom front/above) of the plastic engine cover. It had a small cup socket on the end which connected to a ball joint on a metal plate near what I think is the thermostat houseing. How long it has been disconected I don't know or what it does but I have reconected the 2 parts temporarorly.Any ideas. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks for this, looks like I've been looking in the wrong place! So whats the small black box with a small pipe and a connector with 3 wires coming from it then?
  9. I don't think its the water as this was changed before winter and the guage worked fine when it first went cold. One thing though I have just been out for a short drive and the guage worked normally, just into the white zone after 5 min,it seems the guage "fails" once the water has reached opparating temp.Any way thanks again.
  10. Cabin temp is fine, not heard cooling fans come on but not been stuck in any trafic,no signs of over heating, pipes warm after 30min drive. There is movement in the guage when ignition switched on so I'm not sure if it is faulty. Thanks for all the info I'm going to have a good look at the unit once the weather is a bit drier and warmer!
  11. Yes engine running fine, idle speed about 700 revs.Drove into work this morning and the guage rose normally then dropped to cold sector after 15 min. When the ignition is switched on the needle rises to inbetween the 2 blue lines of the cold sector so I think the guage is O.K.Is the unit located on the R.H.S. of the engine bay (when looking under the bonnet) with a small pipe runnig from it to a large water pipe? By the way my car is an automatic. Thanks for any info. :(
  12. Can anyone please tell me where this unit is ? I have a 52 plate 2.2 HDi C5 SX and the temp guage is tempermental sometimes working, sometimes not.Any info. on fixes and cost much appriciated. :(
  13. I had exactly the same problem with my 52 C5.There is a 2 way valve on the bottom of the water bottle which had become blocked. The job envolved removing the front RHS wheel, arch liner, headlamp and right side of the bumper to remove the bottle! The valve can be eased apart for cleaning, just don't squeeze it to tight together again.
  14. I bought a Sony NV-U53 last week and it works fine mounted in the middle of the dash above the trip screen.Only cost £80 from T J Hughs.com.
  15. Mine is a 52 2.2 HDi auto estate.Currently showing an average mpg of 34 which is a lot of stop stat commuting.I leave it in auto and use the cruise alot.
  16. Mine's a 52 plate 2.2 SX estate and that wobbles at between 65 and 75.
  17. Either look in the wheel well or the pocket in the glove box for the nut adaptor, that's where I found mine.
  18. The high speed warning on the trip can be sitched off or reprogammed.Use the button on the end of the wiper stalk to get to "overspeed"then give the button a long press to switch it off.Mine was set at 65mph and bugged me like like hell! The temp sender is in the right hand side mirror, plenty of info on this site to correct it.
  19. I have a 52 plate 2.2 HDi auto estate with 33k on the clock.After 1500 miles at an average speed of 22mph!(all bar 200miles is stop start commuting) I get about 33mpg.On a motorway blast,steady 65-70 I get about 55plus.I'm happy.
  20. The same thing happens to my rear wiper. It seams to happen after I use the washer or leave it running awhile. It's like there is a pre set time delay which stays until every thing is switched off for a while.Always works first time next time.
  21. Lets hope they don't do the same as the Peugeot manual and print a sepparate book for deisel engines!Another £18 in their pocket!
  22. Any idea on how long the fluid lasts before a refill is needed?
  23. I blew some air through the jets from outside with the pipe then had a good poke with a pin.Suprised at the amount of gunk that came out.I had to keep spraying water out to finally clear the jets, thanks.
  24. I mentioned this in the C6 section,Citroen are 8th overal above some "excellent" makes but the motoring press are bias towards the Germans and put every thing else down.Keep it like this and we keep getting reliable motoring cheaply!
  25. O.K. thanks for that I'll give it a go.
