Sounds like the Comms 2000 unit to me - had 2 replaced on my old 53 reg Berlingo

Brelingo Wipers Doing Their Own Thing !
DesdinovaUK2 replied to Brucie's topic in Berlingo - Technical
Yes sounds like the Comms 2000 unit - needed ours replaced on our old Berlingo when the front wipers would come on when the rear wiper was switched on, both screen washers would come on when the rear wiper was activated etc etc -
Happened to us going up the San Bernardino pass in the Alps last week with a fully loaded boot - luckily we had just negotiated a tight hairpin and were accelerating away when it happened otherwise visions of baggage disappearing over the edge of the mountain. Not sure if we had closed it fully - heavily laden bags were pressing against the back door when we cloased it. Been checking it's fully closed since though.

..... sigh...... :P

You miss the point Iannez - Yes a lock is available at £130 + for fitting - should be fitted as standard by Citroen. However whole advantage of a spare underneath is not having to empty boot to change wheel when boot is full in pissing rain - with lock will have to. Bloody Bluewater should have much better security "Scally's" on the streets.... hmmmm.... how about social justice in this country, might possibly be effective? Or perhaps a criminal justice system based on "truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth" rather than merely what the prosecution can prove ie an inquisatorial rather than adversarial system of justice.... Ooops politics....better shut up now....

Succumbed again - as those who have read my warning re Bluewater shopping centre on the general forum above will see.

Not ignoring you - but don't have any answers,

Just succumbed - noticed it had gone last night when I eventually got fed up with the annoying rattle coming from the rear. Apparently they deflated the wheel, and this gives enough play in the cage for it to be lifted off the hook. Either that or they simply bent the hook with pliers my dealer informed me.

Look on Auto Trader online - wide range on there when I had to research values for our written off 53 reg earlier in the year.
-
Wave as you go through Dover Taking ours to Italy in August.
-
I had a fault on our old 53 reg with the stalks similar to yours - it was actually a fault with the electronic control system (Comms 2000 unit) not the stalk.
-
Hi Julie, I see from another post you're in Sunderland - another makkem on here at last! Was born and bred there, before eventually moving here down south. Parents still live there though.
-
Trying to agree on the write off value for our 1.6 petrol was difficult too. We had 53 reg 1.6 petrol Desire with air con and safety pack too, but high mileage with 60,000 on the clock. Looking on autotrader I couldn't find identical spec but it was clear that we couldn't have sourced any similar replacement for less than 5900 Initial offer from the insurance company was only 5100, but after a brief discussion they upped that to 5797 - rather strange figure I thought - which we accepted.
-
There are 2 versions of the 1.6 diesel, 75 hp and 92 hp - we have the latter. Noisewise, it's fine so far, no real difference to the petro,l version as far as I'm concerned. Performance is fine, acceleration in first gear seems quicker to be honest. Trip computer is showing average mpg at 42.8 at the moment, and rising slwoly - but it's all town driving no longer runs yet. Deals - there is the usual cash back offer, which always seems to be threatening to come to an end at the end of the particular month you enquire, and also the free in car DVD system at the moment.
-
Was contacted today about the free in car DVD system Citroen were offering. Should be with us shortly, still not really sure why it couldn't come with the car but hey, I'm not complaining. Well impressed with this diesel fuel economy lark, no long trips yet but based on what I'm having to fork out at the pumps over the last 2 weeks saving somewhere between £10 and £20 a week on fuel compared to the 1.6 petrol.

No the radio/cd remote stalk is seperate as it was before, on the right hand side lower down. That is identical to how it was before. The main right hand stalk has just one press in button on the very end tip of the stalk which cycles through the trip computer functions. Incidentally just went to put it away in the garage now, the automatic headlights came on almost instantaneously - wasn't expecting such quick operation.
-
Well picked it up this afternoon - yes it does look good in Iron Grey. CD radio is identical to the one we had in the 53 reg, although the i pod radio transmitter thingy I bought the wife for her birthday works well. Electronic display is slightly different, the 53 reg had a scrolling message when doors weree open, this one has a picture of a car showing open doors. It also shows a list of what is set on all 6 preset channels when scrolling channels on the radio controls - old one didn't do that. The basic display gives date, time and outside temperature. Trip computer as was described above - miles until need to refill, distance travelled, average mpg, instantaneous mpg and average speed. Controlled from a button on the end of the right hand stalk. Automatic headlights are pretty funky, they come on when the wipers are on continuously too. Easily switched off if you don't want the automatic function. The automatic wipers have to be "reset" after every ignition switch off - a little bothersome I feel. First impression of the 92 hp diesel is very positive - it is a lot more nippy than I was expecting. Have to be careful at the local filling station though - just realised in time that 50% of the pumps only have "ultimate diesel" - have to look carefully which pump you use - having only bought petrol before this was a new thing to look out for. Nice to see 500+ miles showing until a refill is necessary though. As was reported above, no the windows don't work with ignition off.

Dunno- I'll let you know after Monday when we pick it up
-
It's the air con / visibility pack option which is only available on Desire models - comprises air con, heat reflecting windscreen, automatic rain sensitive wipers, automatic headlamp illumination and trip computer. Forte's only have the air con and heat reflecting windscreen as the option.
-
Several people here have had indicator stalk problems I believe, and I have had electrical problems - horn not working, wipetrs not working or rear screen wash coming on when I used the front screen wash etc. With ours it was due to faulty Comms 2000 units (replaced twice) which controls the electrics. Theese are pricey but both of ours were replaced under warranty.

We did Frejus on the Cote D'Azur 2 summers ago in the now defunct 53 reg 1.6 petrol. Nice drive down. Like Terry we did 2 stops Eastern Paris with friends on first and last nights, with Avignon on the way down and Lyons on the way back. Drove the Monaco GP circuit in the B'lingo too, with camera in one hand. Doing the Italian lakes this summer - planning only 1 stop this time.
-
Well after the sad demise 12 days ago of our 53 reg 1.6 petrol Desire - written off after a 20 mph collision with a flat bed van - have finally today sourced a replacement. 07 reg 92 hp diesel Desire in Iron Grey. No petrol available with air con in the country and didn't want to wait 10 - 12 weeks we were being quoted for a factory build. Must say the Desire spec has gone up a bit since 2003.

I'd noted that we seemed to occasionally be getting bad radio reception on BBC stations - radio 4 and radio 2. I'd put this down to a power reduction at the transmitter or other similar problems - the Beeb are not that interested in SE Kent - lack of decent digital coverage being a prime example. Discovered the other day that it is being caused by my younger son's Nintendo DS when he charges it using the car charger. Elder son has an original Nintendo DS and no problems with that - never happened with their Game Boy's either. Odd thing too is that it's only BBC stations that are affected, local commercial stations or French stations are not affected. Anyone else noticed this?

And the answer is - wear and tear!
