Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any ideas. My C5 Hpi with xenon headlights has had an issue with the drivers side lens since before I got it. Basically it has what seems to be overspray from laquer or something similar on it presumably from when a previous owner touched up some damage to the front bumper. While it's not stopping the light working and the car has just passed it's MOT it does look a bit crap having one nice clear lens and one cloudy and yellowed etc. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on if/how it could be removed without damaging the lens itself or would I be better leaving well alone? Ta Jon

Hi, a quick update on the radio problem. I've now solved it thanks to Old'uns suggestion of swapping the yellow & red connectors over. It seems that the constant live and switched live connectors are the opposite way round on the C5 to the way the Sony H/U thinks they should be. Consequently all sorted no need to reprogram everytime and me happy. Thanks all ! Jon

Hi, the leaving in standby mode doesn't make any difference with my Sony H/U. It loses it's settings whether I leave it on standy, switch off completely or remove the facia etc... I've also checked the auto power off settings and that is disabled aswell so it can only be the power the unit it receiving from the car once it's locked. I will try switching the yellow & red wires when I get a chance to see what happens otherwise I'll have to pick up a continuous live from somewhere else (maybe the 12v or cigar lighter)? Thanks Jon

Thanks for the response. I decided to folllow suit and have fitted a Sony unit that is tailor made for iPod connectivity (i.e. has a proper dock lead that comes out the back so this goes into the glovebox and all works perfectly with full control of the iPod). Not really fussed about the steering wheel controls or display as I'm getting so much more with this unit. Best of all it only cost £70 from Argos! One small issue though is that it loses its memory when the car is turned off and locked so I have to retune each time. As far as I can see all the leads are connected correctly in fact everything else is ok and you don't even need an ISO lead (mine's a 2003). So even though the continuous power cable is connected as part of one of the plugs it obvously still loses power between use. Has anyone encountered this before and if so how did you get round it? Thanks Jon ;)

Mine's doing the same nothing most of the time and then all of a sudden works for a couple of minutes? Any Ideas?

Hi All, I have a 2003 2.0 Hdi and a couple of times recently the Stop Light has flashed accompanied by a warning sound, this lasts for about 10 seconds or so and the temp gauge goes right to the top and then back down to normal at the same time. This only seems to happen after a few minutes of driving and only after a non cold start. (If I start from cold it doesn't seem to happen). Also the engine runs perfectly while it's happening and afterwards so it looks like a glitch rather than an actual engine problem. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what causes it? Thanks in advance!

They clip into slots in the mirror housing and will clip out if you are careful. I know this as I smashed one of my mirrors against and on coming transit (I think he came of worst)! I've currently got a van one on one side now, they are exactly the same, heated etc just without the slots for the coloured panel to clip into. I'm not sure if there is an easier way to remove just the plastic trim other than carefully leavering it off though!

Crikey someone got a bargain! According to Whatcar even the trade price is almost double that figure... there are still some bargains left on ebay... Jon

Hi, if it helps I had 2 Continental Eco 3's fitted to the front of our Hdi last year. It's done about 18000 since and I reckon theres another 5-7k in them yet so very pleased. I also noticed the MPG got a bit better since fitting them (only 2-3mpg but it all helps)! :D

Hi Donkey, don't worry about the £60 to fill up. (although I've never put more than £40 into ours in one go), the tank is pretty big and our Hdi Berlingo regularly does around 45mpg so you will get loads of miles for your £60, as long as you don't have lead boots!

Turns out it was the CD Player! and it's being replaced FOC under warranty so just in time as the 3 year warranty expires on 22nd nov..

Hi, well it's finally happened. After nearly three years of faultless ownership my 2.0 Hdi is making a strange ticking noise for about 10 seconds after it's been unlocked (the noise comes from behind the centre console somewhere) and stops after about 10 seconds or when the ignition key is turned. There are no other signs of a problem and everything works fine while the noise is evident and afterwards. I've tested it and it only happens when the car is left alone for more than a few minutes. (if you lock it and unlock it again within a minute or so it doesn't do it) so it must be something to do with the security system? Before I phone the dealer I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem and if so what it was? I need to act quickly as the warranty runs out in a couple of weeks! Cheers

Just had me 37,500 mile service done, this time i've taken the plunge and used an independent garage that specialises in Citroen & Peugeot. My local dealer quoted me £335 for this service and I got it done like for like for less than £180! (much better service than the franchised dealer aswell, treated like a customer rather than an inconvenience). If anyone is interested I used Air Cooled Engineering in Oxford and can recommend them. Cheers :D

look on ebay for new wipers (they only last about a year before they get noisy again) but you can get a decent set of Bosch ones pretty cheap from various suppliers...

have just had the tracking done and as suspected it was out at the front so will have to keep an eye on it from now on. (interesting about the pillow type speed humps that seem to be everywhere now though).

Our Hdi seems to wear it's front tyres out on the outsides pretty quickly. The current set of Continentals were fitted about 11-12,000 miles ago and while most of the tyre is fine on each side the front tyres are already looking pretty low on the outsides. Either it's me taking corners and roundabouts a bit quick or the Berlingo has a tendancy to wear them out around the outsides? Has anyone else experienced this? Ta

Looks like I'm keeping the Berlingo then! after reading the magazine and looking around I can't actually find anything that I really want so either the Berlingo is better than even I thought or I'm getting old! Could be a combination of the two I suppose... :o

I got done for 37mph in a 30 limit 3 points and 60 quid and that was on a fixed camera pointing towards me. (not paying attention)...

Hi all, our Berlingo will be three years old soon and although we like the car and have never had a moments trouble from it I'm thinking of replacing it. This probably has more to do with the fact that after three years with the same car I fancy something different but we also no longer need anything as big. What I'm wondering is what we could possibly replace it with, as the Berlingo is such good value there are no obvious contenders and I suspect if we go for a smaller car we'll miss the space and flexibility! Has anyone got any suggestiions?

yep, just shut the vents if you don't want any. I know what you mean though I've had cars in the past where you could get cold air straight through to the face vents and warm air going to the floor or screen or whatever. Must be a thing with french cars!

saw a Mercedes Vaneo for the first time the other day. I overtook it on the motorway then had to slow down and let it go past so I could get a better look, wished I hadn't though as it pretty hideous up close. I hope it's a decent car to drive and own as the styling is awful!
-
Got mine for about £170 after some haggling and that was an HDi so you should be able to get yours a bit cheaper than that (maybe around the £150 mark). It's worth phoning a few dealers and haggling with the local one to get the best deal as their prices seem pretty flexible.

DOH! It just gets worse & worse...

Ours is Silver and I haven't seen a colour that suits it better (but then I like Silver cars)! I also find that I sometimes need to flatten the ariel when using a multistory car park as otherwise it scrapes along the ceiling...

Hi, has anyone got any recommendations for new tyres form my Berlingo Hdi? I need two new ones for the front and have been fairly impressed with the original Michelin ones but don't like the look of the price! Ta <_<
