  12. i dont know it was the first time i had changed it since i got the car i only have had it about 10 months and was doing a basic service and thought give it a flush out and replace so i did with heavy duty antifreeze thinking that would see it through for a while then this problem was picked up on i am thinking about doing the system flush again but use an old baby bottle brush to get oil traces from round the sides of my expansion tank do you think this would be worth doing
  13. i am a little concerned as its a coffee like colour not in my oil cap but certainly on the top of my expansion tank cap and seal really creamy
  14. i am having a slight problem of oil in my expansion tank only started a couple of weeks ago after topping up with coolant i am concerned i have been told it could be headgasket or an oil way split to a waterway i scoup the oil out and i can see the water quite clear but i dont seem to loose any oil according to the dip stick unless its a small amount anyone have any ideas its a 1.4 xsara west coast with 65,000 miles on the clock on a v plate "99"
  15. mine is doing the same thing ,its the bearings ontop of the shockers they cease up because the shockers move when you steer its sounds like something out of michael jacksons thriller lol "its not serious " but will need changing sometime
  16. could be a few things "steering rack ,ball joints, bushes , top shock bearings which fit on to steering along the line they clunk mine is doing this on a 1.4 west coast on the top of the shockers under bonnet its the black mounts mostly its the joints "wish bones " jack it up and axle stand it then wobble the wheel up and down and left to right "not by steering it .you should hear it . hope it helps
  17. does this car have side airbags if so there is another under passenger seat and 2 lots of connectors under drivers seat also make sure you dont have an airbag key fitting near passenger door and dashboard i found this by mistake it seems you definatley have a fault in the electrical current to the airbag sensor
  18. change your red and yellow wires round that will sort out the memory problem as for volume on steering make sure your cable is citreon to "?" stereo as you might need to change steering remote cable approx £35 halfords
  19. well i have been told that xsara west coast has the engine of a vtr so the gearbox is the same as the vtr "which means more expensive" as they are the performance version into a family car you might find that the linkage from the gear lever to the gear selector on gearbox might be going as they are prone for this to hope this info helps
