there is what sounds like a creaking spring but its from the steering,when i turn the steering column it creaks,reversing the car the steering makes more of a noise,sounds like its ready for the scrap yard ,any help

is there a filter in the xsara 1.4 lx for the air system ,my blowers dont seem to work very well and when it rains its a nightmare driving due to misting ,any help please
