  1. Hello I started noticing a problem with noise while at idle, over and under revving at idle but also that the car stopped feeling as smooth to drive and seemed to lose power and also seems to be drinking petrol like crazy, then my clutch started to feel a little grinding when pressing down, then more noise and finally my clutch vibrates and also makes noise when pressed, the car isn't running smoothly now and there are also some other metal noises, this all happened over the space of only one week,i have had the car for 2 months 78000 on the clock. From what i have been reading,it all points to the flywheel or dual mass flywheel and others advise getting a flywheel and clutch kit however .. i can't find a single seller of a flywheel for my car,i try searching dual mass or just flywheel,i put in my reg and all that ever comes up on the 4 main sites i have used is a clutch kit,no flywheel ever. This is my car, from all the issues i have had over the week,it really sounds like the flywheel but as there is only a clutch kit, what does this mean ? does the clutch kit include the flywheel ? i am sorry as i am not very car savy Citroen ( 2004) C5 1.8 vtr this is all i can ever find,no results for flywheel or dual mass flywheel http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/clutch-kit many thanks and i appreciate any help cheers
  2. Iv had my xsara TD 1.9 for 7 months and been very happy with it but now an MOT is due it seems everything has gone wrong all at the same time, but my biggest worrie is the performance of the car in the last week. I was really low on oil and a family member helped to check oil levels and topped up the oil with im sure bog standard crappy cheap oil,he said it would do until an oil change in a few weeks time, seeing as i wanted a lot done before MOT time. The car seemed to be running a bit smoother and quieter after the oil change but as of last week the car has been running really slow, taking much longer to get out of 1st gear and 2nd gear slower also, and it seems 2nd or 3rd is about as far as i can go. when this started happening it would come and go then get worse and worse, now that its going in for MOT tommorow, should i be prepaired to scrap my xsara as i may have done permanant damage with the oil topup. it give an idea, the car now runs max speed of 33mph at a push. i forgot to mention ,the ecell pedal was always a bit stiff to push but since this problem there is very little foot control now ,as the pedal is stiffer and the distance to push it to the floor is shorter. =================================================== the pedal releases fully once pressed to the floor, its manual gears ,the pedal was always stuff, but now seems shorter to the floor,i havent been driving long and know little about cars,im not sure about the throttle cable, tho it has been checked a few weeks ago when the oil top up was done and i was told tho the pedal is stiff the cable was fine. thanks ======================================================= thanks
  3. hello all , just got my nice xsara td1.9 LX (08) today but found the incar cdplayer non working, non plugged in its an after market cd player that has several wires including red/white aux sockets and a black cable and red cable that is attached to a fuse. within the stereo bay there are a set of 2 sockets white and black, each with 8 pins, tho the black socket has 7 pins ,also there is an ariel. i have so far looked up that the cd player red cable is the power but also the yellow cable can be used for an always powered function, the back cable is the earth and i would need to earth this somewhere but i dont know where.the rest of the cables from the cd player are for speakers. i also have try'd to find out what colours on the sockets i should connect up for power and earth but cant find any info,i have try'd also some variations and also tested earth to the cd metal bracket but unsure if this is suitable and i know that the player needs to be earthed before i get anything to work. so far i cant get anything out of the cd player and im unsure if i should even bother as it might be difficult to also connect it up to the functions on the steering wheel also i have read that converters are needed and that it might be a fuse. im really new to cars but quite good with electrical equipment and hope to get this working so i can mabe get my ipod working from the aux jacks at the back of the player but just getting the power on would be great, any help at all would be greatly welcome. thanks and regards
