  1. Depends what year your car & what system is fitted - but speak to Citroen parts and they should help (if only to tell you what system you have fitted). You will probably find that it is cheaper to go straight to the manufacturer for the disk itself. If it is an early one like mine (2001 VDO) I'd save your money and get a Tomtom or similar - the fitted system is very dated and is nowhere near as good as a portable, though you will find issues with getting a signal through the windscreen. If you have no disk at all (which might be rather annoying) you could try and get an old one from eBay or perhaps asking on here, but first establish what you have fitted.
  2. I've just fitted an external aerial as I kept loosing the signal without it. As Mick M I've stuck it on the corner above to pillar between front & rear doors, though I haven't hidden it. And I ran the wire through the door trim, behind the dash and up in the corner of the windscreen (where I also have a power lead fitted). It's a massive improvement.
  3. Just for info - I had a loose steering wheel. I popped off the airbag which reveals a torx headed bolt. Bit of a bugger to tighten (without pulling the airbag completely off) but fairly straight forward. Airbag clips back on (disconnect the battery or you'll be beeping away).
  4. I have the VDO Citroen sat nav in mine and I prefer to use a Tomtom - it is much, much better than the factory installed sat nav and is much easier and cheaper to keep up-to-date. The only problem is getting a signal through the windscreen - mine does manage it but can get a bit intermittent under trees. I really wouldn't waste the money on retro-fitting any factory system. That said, I do use the other information systems you get with the colour display.
  5. I had to replace my back box about 2 months ago. I was horrified with the price of the Citroen one and tried to find a 'performance' copy (but couldn't). Got a pattern silencer in the end for about £400 which was bad enough. Anyone found anywhere that does the pre-cats? I have the traditional 'anti-pollution device failure' which the garage tells me is one failed pre-cat and one intermittent pre-cat. They're both around £350 each.
  6. In my experience the speedo under reads. Assuming that the same information feeds the trip counter and computer then they will be wrong also. However, since you are basing your calculations also on the trip counter reading that would not account for any difference between you and the computer, if you see what I mean. I reckon my speedo is under by about 4%, so I am getting 4% better performance than what I calculate I am getting. If only that weren't the square route of 'very little' I'd be pleased.
  7. Finally got round to this the other day. It was pretty straight forward though releasing the clips was fiddly. The airbag is held on by two tabs which you release from behind the wheel with a screwdriver. Nothing went bang and the wheel is now tight again!
  8. That's great thanks - there are holes at the back of the steering wheel which are the access to the tabs so the above makes sense.
  9. My steering wheel suddenly seems to be a bit loose - I can rock it slightly and there is a little bit of play switching it left/right. I'd like to get to the nut to check it for play but first have to get through the air bag. Is it possible to do? I believe it (the air bag and boss that contains it) clips through the wheel and is released through the back of the wheel but before I release it I'd like to know that I'm not going to set it off. Any advice from anyone that knows? Thanks. P.S. I know it is an explosive device!
  10. My C5 is under reading. Every time I pass a Gatso I am going slightly faster than everyone else. I used my old Tomtom today to check the GPS speed - at a speedo reading of 80 the Tomtom had me at 83-84 ish. Whilst the Tomtom isn't necessarily spot on it has in the past read at around 77-79mph in two other cars (same stretch of road) where each car's speedo was showing 80. So the C5 seems to be reading about 5 or 6 mph less than my other cars at 80.
