Well 2 inj are returning higher than mormal fuel rate and the other 2 are border line according to citroen.. When warm The car would judder occasionaly on pulling away but then sort itself when throttled off slightly...Also when in use i had an occasional rattling noise after changing down to use a turn left/right which again, disappeared when throttled off... I filled up tank and added diesel inj cleaner and have run 290 miles. If im honest the clouds of black smoke have thinned and the car seems to be running smoother. But its my dads decision to change all 4 injectors. However the car does take extra cranking time when its been running for 10 mins plus....this has been the bug for all symptoms...

So i took the advise and had a diag check at dealer.. No issues found with ECU readout.. They didnt charge as no fsults were found., very nice of them. It was decided to have a flow check on the fuel and injectors are returning more than normal.. I was way off with the whole airflow symtoms by the looks of it..,,SO.. Would anyone know where the 8 digit classification number is on the injectors as haines manual mentions about re-programming into ECM..calibration i guess.. Any help is greatly appreciated

The glow plugs are hidden behind the cooling chamber of egr valve, well they are on the 06 c5 anyway.. Weird that its mentioned that the pre-heat light doesnt show cos neither does mine but it is placed next to voltage gage on dash..

A New Problem Has Risen - Air Flow Issue ?
Vin1100 replied to Vin1100's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Ok so a little research online is also pointing towards MAF.. It confirms the symptoms i have which is loss of power, poor idling and as mentioned this cloudy smoke at exhaust.. Also im only getting 70 miles from 15ltrs of diesel.. Although its only short runs, i should be getting nearer the 100 mile mark....All of these symptoms dissapear when AF meter is disconnected but obviously EML light appears due to disruppted fuel cycle.. Im guna leave the egr as is because as its new and we have had it for 8 days and not sure if i would get any refund.. Although i will ask about exchange if need be. -
Have you got some dodgy fuel ?, this makes me wonder, would it pay to use the same fuel company to fill your car. I know that some big chains mix their fuel to alter strength. I proved this a fee years ago on a friends audi... so just wondering if the same would apply on diesel??

A New Problem Has Risen - Air Flow Issue ?
Vin1100 replied to Vin1100's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Bugger, i was going to mention it last post. Yes paul the egr is new, paid £106 from gmf as it was stocked. I dont think anything has been done via the dpf/ cat and cooler so maybe worth a shot. As mentioned tho, it only happens when car is warm, pull away in 1st and engine seems to have no power then black smoke after changing to 2nd, moving up the box then all is ok.. Many thanks for the other pointers and advice on A/F meter -
A New Problem Has Risen - Air Flow Issue ?
Vin1100 replied to Vin1100's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
The turbo has done about 250 miles since fitment, the car had an issue where its been throwing out clouds of black smoke when pulling away and it is was thought the egr was the main cause due to signs of wear in the solenoid chamber after de-sooting it and still had a high reading on diag tester. The smoke problem is still there and as previously mentioned lagging on pulling away.. I have disconnected the airflow meter to try and car runs a whole lot better, but has obviously affected the fuel cycle so in turn it had bought up depollution fault again.... Im still thinking airflow mtr replacement... And ruling out fuel or injectors... One last thing.. I set the clock on lcd.. Started car a little time later, time is flashing for reset???.. Checked battery leads and they are solid... Any thoughts/ experience is always a blessing -

Is this the start of turbo trouble if the oil dumping is apparent.. Is there any resolve on the issue?? -

Thank you for the reply, not sure when the fuel filter was done last to be honest. Ive been given the car to rectify small issues. It has also had a recon turbo fitted by specialist so he has followed citrien process by changing oil flow pipes in sump and complete oil and filter change after 30 miles -
Since recently changing the egr on citroen c5 vtx 1.6 hdi o6 plate, and rectifying minor issue with glow plug loom, the car now struggles to start when warm and i have noticed that when pulling away in 1st or 2nd gear that the engine seems restricted and lags very badly.. Bang it into 3rd and then it will pick up.. Haynes manual points toward poss airflow/ fuel starving or electrical issue.. I am thinking of changin airflow meter, has anyone encountered these symptoms before... Many thanks v :)

The culprit was x2 slightly dislodged glow plug loom connectors.. All good now after a full charged battery and rock hard primed fuel filter... Thanks for all feedback people... :)

Thanks for post coastline.. Car is running now after retracing steps of egr fitment.. New glow plugs are next on the list...

Thanks paul for your research, the egr operates via solenoid and yes it could be faulty.. Do you think its worth doing the so called reset for computer?? Will it work on this model?.. I will try fitting old egr to see if it starts.. Not nice to do on cold nights after work... Will update on progress. Thank you :)

Its a 1.6 hdi 2006 i didnt record the fault code unfortunately and yes it did run fine before changing.. All pipes and loom connecting are good.. The only thing that happened is that 1 of the bleed over nipples on top of the injectors had broke so i have now renewed all four as they come complete.. I also had to manually prime diesel as i disconnected filter when fitting EGR

If anyone can shead some light i would be very greatful.. I have recently changed the EGR valve on the c5 vtx as it had signs of wear and was sticking closed in first gear at low rpm and gave high readings on last MOT ...Anyhoo i have had car running for a split second before system error said depollution system faulty.. I have cleared this with a diagnostic reader.. Car will not start... The battery has been disconnected so therefore cleard system.. Is it worth doing the reboot as mentioned on here sometime ago.. Many thanks v :)
