  1. Before I end my relationship with my beautiful C5 - the car equivalent of a MILF in my opinion Id like to contribute to the mine of good info on here. I struggled for about 2 years with Depollution issues on my MK3 2.2 HDi. Sometimes it would go into limp mode and allow me to pull over safely. Other times she would simply cut out refusing to start until I had used either FAP or Torque and cleared the errors. The latter had a habit of hapenning on the motorway, at speed. So 2 things I would like to suggest. Firstly if you dont have Lexia or want to go to the expense of buying it get the full FAP app from the Amazon App store. It only costs a few quid and gives you real time info on the DPF as well as other bits and bobs. Being that it is written for Citroens and Pugs it tells you more than what the usual OBD diagnostic programs do coupled with a good OBD wifi or Bluetooth dongle. So for about £20 you can kit yourself out with a very good tool. Secondly. My issue turned out to be the diesel fuel filter which was causing fluctuations in fuel pressure which was aborting the regen process. Replace it regularly (try not to break the nylon push connectors like i did!) If you have a DPF problem try this - a replacement filter starts from around £30 and is a 20 minute DIY job - just dont knacker the connectors or it could be a two week job like mine was! :) To everyone who has provided help - Particularly @Paulh - since before I actually bought the car - I thank you! I love this car but its time to let he go. Being a fan of the fuller figure my C5 was perfect - big boot and headlights plus a comfy cabin for the long ride - my C5 was a pleasure to own. A five year old car bought in 2013 for £4k which was a bargain with 60 000miles. Overall maintenance has been around £1600 in that time for a further 60000 . Probably the best bargain of my driving life.
  2. Hi Paul thanks for your reply. I dont think it is the pins on mine as there is no sign of any water ingress. I actually think mine could be a mechanical issue as when I have the wipers on the shaft on the LH wiper motor tries to turn but can only move about a millimetre in either direction. Still I will see if I can take the circuit board off the mounting lugs and make absolutely sure - I have fat fingers so it may end badly! :)
  3. Does anyone know where I can source a working wiper motor, at a reasonable price, for my MK3 please? I can get one for a decent price from South Africa but its a bit of a faff getting it here. Alternatively can anyone tell me whether the left and right hand drive versions use the same wiper motors? Im doubting it but I may be lucky! :) If so I could look around Spain for one.
  4. So...... As it turns out I dont think the dpf is on its way out. I replaced the diesel filter which seems to have got the dpf regenerating again. I was getting fuel pressure errors which I suspect were related to the blocked filter and causing the dpf to not regenerate.
  5. OK so scrap that I have opened the cover up by removing the adhesive from two the screw heads. And then managed to break the third fixing lug. Now my question is. I see the circuit board but cannot prize it away from the cover having removed the three smaller fixing screws. The board itself appears to be undamaged but I cant see behind it to where the ribbon cable will attach to the board. Any other ideas as to what I can do now to get the board away - Im ultra careful now having snapped off one lug. Secondly is there a test I can do to confirm that it is indeed the passenger motor that has died?
  6. Guys I have just taken out the passenger wiper motor on my car. I cant see how to open up the metal cover of the circuity to see if the pins are maybe just corroded, Any ideas please?
  7. Many thanks guys. @Paulh I will take a look at Alexpress as I already buy off them. @Coastline Taxis I will give a jubilee a bash in the meantime. MOT is up today so need to get the car sorted ASAP.
  8. Thanks Paul. I tried pushing the connector in but it would not release the clamp. The facade was caused when I eventually used the tip of a screwdriver. Luckily it is only the one clamp damaged as all the rest came off fine. Does anyone know whether the return could be secured with a jubilee clamp or whether the pressure is too great?
  9. Hi. I have just tried to replace the filter on my 2.2 2008 X7. All but one of the push connectors came off easily. The last one which appears to go back towards the tank has not come off and I've now damaged it. Can I replace this connector? https://flic.kr/p/E2zbEj Also when I took the old filter out there was a connector hanging loose below it. Neither the old nor the new filter have any pins in the socket at the bottom of the filter. Should the new filter have sort of circuitry built in?
  10. Thanks Paul. That does, to a degree, make sense although the sensor does definitely come off the fuel rail. On eBay most of the fuel rails listed have already had the sensors stripped but I will see if I can pick up a complete unit. The filter has been replaced since the issues started.
  11. Hi All As I think Ive mentioned on here my 2.2 has been having problems and going into limp mode with a Depolution Error. Its got far more regular lately but having already spent 1500 on the front suspension I've tried to put off sorting it out as long as possible. I've had her in two independant specialists who have given me slightly differing advise. One thought there could be a fault with the pressure sensor on the fuel rail whilst the other garage suggested a fault with the pressure switch at the other end of the rail. I have the part number to order for the pressure switch - 0281 002 803 / 9654748880 - as it is visible. The sensor however I was told was 1570L3 and told to look on eBay. I havent been able to find a pressure sensor with this number anywhere and suspect this may be a PSA specific reference. Is there any other way that anybody can tell me what the part number is without me first removing the pressure sensor first? Also is replacement of these parts a job where you would need Lexia to get them to work? Ive used the Android app FAP and it does appear to be pointing to a problem with fuel pressure (from the error codes FAP displays) so I'm pretty keen on swapping these to parts out Many Thanks in advance Jon
  12. Thanks chaps once I am home freezing Spain I will take a look.
  13. Hi Having been told that I "may" need to replace the DPF in my car at a cost of around £1200 from Citroen, I have been looking around. I can see a number of DPF's listed on eBay that will, apparently, fit my 2008 X7 2.2. Has anybody on here replaced a DPF with an after market one? If so from where? I am not looking at getting another 9 years out of one but if I got another few years out of this car I would be happy. Any experience?
  14. Guys many thanks for your suggestions. I took the car into the local specialists and they cleared all of the codes after having read them. I was told to drive it over the weekend and take it back tomorrow for them to reread the codes. They have mentioned that despite the issue appearing to be the fuel rail sensor it could also be the DPF or the EGR that need looking at. Again many thanks for your suggestions.
  15. I'm hoping someone can help me. My car started developing a depollution fault about two years ago. Occasionally on long trips it would cut out. A local specialist, connected the car up, and told me it could be the fuel rail sensor. As it was intermittent I haven't really worried about it until last night. It has now started cutting out every few miles. I can still clear the codes and carry on but it does the same again a few miles on. I'm using Torque on my phone and in addition to the usual alarm - fuel rail pressure etc - I'm now also getting a "major fuel leak" alert. I've checked and can't see any leaks. So after the above I'm going to try changing the sensor. A few questions. I'm looking at second have sensors on eBay. How can I identify what the part number is that I need? Secondly, can I just swap the sensor out? Our chi I need to get someone with Lexia to assist. Many thanks!
