  1. I would be careful about splicing any wires on the car without talking to the dealer. It could upset the electrics all round the car, what you do in one area could upset others. I work in a Citroen dealer and have seen cars wiring that is a complete mess and the customer has ended up paying for the repair and the work done by pals have invalidated the warranty. There are various parameters on the car that can be switched on and off. It may be that you can have these chargers made live by changing some of the settings in the cars ECU's so they don't switch off while the cars engine is off. My advice is speak to your local dealer before changing any of the wiring on the car yourself.
  2. You may think that the independents are cheaper than the main dealers but normally the independents don't have the diagnostic equipment that a main dealer has. The problem to me lies in the fact that at least you know when the car goes into a Citroen garage they are not only using the diagnostic equipment to check for faults and deleting any there they also carry out any recalls outstanding or any safety alerts that may need doing while the car is in. A independant won't do this so the reliabilty of the car may be compromised by using non approved Citroen specialists. Personally I would pay that bit more to have it serviced by the main dealer or at least ask to see if the price is negotiable.
  3. Answer is that if you are a low mileage user, it has to be done within 30 days of the date registered. If you are doing the servicing on the mileage scale as you are, you have to have the car serviced within 750 miles of the due service. So as long as you dont go over 13,250 you are ok if you exceed this you invalidate your warranty. The comment above about the car being booked in is not correct. It is when the car is in the workshop, technician working on it. If it was the other way you could have a courier vehicle booked in and in the week that it is booked it could have done another 3,000 miles by the time it comes in. Hope this helps, but if you want to double check then ring Citroen UK on 0870 606 9000 which is the main number they will tell you exactly, but I do think I am correct.
  4. Mary, personally I think that they have offered you a fair deal as you have had the use of the car for the last 13months and you will have put more mileage on it. In relation to the paintwork, they are going to have to get the car up to a standard that would look good on a forecourt for sale and they have to service the car put a warranty on it pay someone to clean the car, MOT the car as even though the car is three years old it will need a new MOT when they sell it so that the new owner of the car has a 12 MOT. The list goes on. I think you should go for it because even if you do get a solicitor on the case, the only people who gain anything in a situation are the lawyers. Good luck
