  1. Hi all, my friend has a 52plate citroen c3 and her wipers stopped working. On Wednesday I went round to have a look, using a multimeter I found that there was power getting to the motor and no blown fuses but the motor didn't move. I took the motor and linkage out and connected up to the battery and it started moving but once again when back in it wouldn't work. I stumbled across another post claiming the bsi reset had worked so gave it a go and hey presto all was fine but then last night they stopped working again. Any ideas what may be causing this to happen? Many thanks
  2. If it has air in the system would that cause brake fluid loss or does that sound more like it's leaking somewhere?
  3. Hi all, had a brand new caliper fitted to my os front wheel last week and since then my pedal sinks slowly and is really spongy. I noticed my brake fluid had dropped drastically and took it back to garage today and he had a look and couldn't see no problems so topped fluid back up and told me to keep an eye on it. When I took wheel off and had a look, the brake hose where it screws into caliper still has thread showing but doesn't seem to tighten up no more, is this meant to screw right in if so why would it not be going in fully? Cheers
  4. Okay I took off the two retaining.nuts.and disconnected all pipe work and plugs, undone the studs until they just kept spinning which helped to lift up the injector about an inch so the top of the plastic seat around the base of the injector could be seen but even using leverage under the injector I could not lift it any further so I decided to put it all back and going to call a garage to do it. In the process of putting it back the top of one of the studs broke a little but still managed to get it tightened back down
  5. What would the process be for replacing the seals?
  6. Just seen a video on YouTube of the same problem and it looks as if it is injector seal. Is that easy to change?
  7. Just took the silver cover off and underneath is 4 plug looking things which on a petrol I could describe as coils. That's where the blowing is coming from very loudly, what are they exactly? They have 4 electrical connectors connected.to them and metal tubes going into them?
  8. Hi all, got in my car this morning and there is a noise which sounds as if.it's coming from under the top of the silver engine cover which sounds like air leaking very loudly and when I press the throttle the air leak speeds up and goes with the engine speed. It's a 2001 2.2hdi estate. No loss of power or warning lights and no chance to look at it till I finish work this evening. Any ideas what pipes are under there that I should look for? Cheers
  9. Hi all, I've got a new coolant temperature sensor to fit to my 2.2hdi and whilst looking at what I have to take off I noticed on the side of the airbox there is some sort of sensor with two tiny black hoses coming out of it. One of these hoses goes to the top of the engine into a plastic t piece and has a little split on a rubber covering by the t piece. Any idea what these hoses are for and what that sensor does? Cheers
  10. Any idea where the sensor is located and if it is easy to change? Cheers
  11. Hi all. When I turn my ignition on the glow plug light will stay illuminated for quite a long period of time before it goes out, maybe 15 seconds and then when I start the car it revs high for a second or so and sounds rough until it's heated up then it starts no problem and the glow plug light goes straight out. Also I don't know if it would be related but my coolant temp gauge seems to drop all the way to the bottom sometimes or on one occasion I turned the car ignition on first thing in the morning and temp gauge was right up? What would be causing the rough starting? Any help appreciated, cheers
  12. Hi all got a few problems with my windows lately, both the rear windows go out of line and fall to one side when opened and it took me 20 minutes to get one back up the other night as everytime i lifted it and pushed the switch the anti pinch sent it down again. The front passenger window works okay but when it reaches the top and stops it kind of makes a creaking sound as im driving along? any ideas what i need to check? cheers
  13. yes i get exact same message popping up every few minutes but as you say the service light only flashes for a few minutes then goes out. I also get the child safety message popping up all the time because i put the rear child locks on. Your right about comfort, just had 2 weeks in somerset, 4 hour drive there and its the best car ive taken on holiday yet :)
  14. so if there is a software update available for it how would i be able to have it installed?
  15. i only really noticed because my radio switched off
  16. hi all. had my c5 a week now with no issues, coming home from work about 5 minutes ago i was driving along at around 30mph and all of my speedo, center dash ie heater and radio etc turned off and then turned on again straight away. engine was fine, any ideas what this may have been? cheers
  17. ah lovely, took the car out for 45 minutes today to toys r us to get the kids some bits and when i got back in the car the oil level on the dash worked and came up with showing full with the squares? How would i check the level of the eolys, would it be a case of dipping something in the reservoir and checking the level? i believe i read the reservoir is n/s rear of the car?
  18. It wont let me upload photos, keeps saying 'the server returned an error while uploading'
  19. Hi all, just purchased my first Citroen. After owning a 1.2 corsa for 4 years, having 2 children and recently getting into carp fishing and trying to fit 12ft rods into a corsa i thought it was time i got something bigger. The mrs has a renault megane scenic but im not a big fan. Anyway i saw this on ebay while browsing for a van and decided to go and see it. Its a 2001 C5 2.2hdi auto/tiptronic. It has done 76000 miles with stacks and stacks of main dealer service history (citroen in crayford), every mot certificate and 1 owner from new. It has cruise control, auto wipers, auto lights etc and after driving a box standard car its such a luxury. Has 6 months tax and mot, it has a few things wrong though. The rev counter isn't working but i've read that is a stepper motor of some sort, the 'diesel additive minimum level' is displayed but last month citroen topped up the elloys fluid so im hoping it is just a case of resetting the dpf, the rear parcel load cover doesn't retract but i can live with that for now, the aerial isn't working for some reason but i will have to look into that and there are scuffs on the front bumper. I have got to say though i am really pleased with it and it has got to be the most comfortable car i have ever driven and in june im off to cornwall and looking forward to the drive now. Anyway thanks for looking, dave
  20. Hi all, picked up my first Citroen yesterday, its a 2001 c5 2.2 hdi estate with 76000 miles and full main dealer service history, really happy with it and it has stacks and stacks of paperwork and service history with it. Anyway when i got in it the dash display shows 'diesel additive minimum level' but i checked the service history and a month ago Citroen topped up the elloys fluid and left a sub note reading 'fluid level okay just needs diag/part replaced'. Would this just be a case of having it plugged in and reset? also i noticed on the dash that the oil level is showing ----- which in the handbook states oil level low. The dipstick isn't the right size so ive got one in the post because apparently the original one broke, would the dash showing ---- be a sensor of some sort, is there any way to reset that? cheers dave
