Just reporting back now that I've finally managed to have my C3 looked at, in case its useful info for anybody in the future. The engine management light decided to stay on permanently and the cutting out got worse so I took it in to the garage this morning to have the diagnostics read. The scanner came back with P0201 - injector control 1 oc or 5c and P0300 - misfire on one or several cylinders. Turns out the fault was caused by a missing retaining clip. Total bill was less than £60 and most of that was for the diagnostics. I took it for a test run around town as there's one thing we're not short of here and that's roundabouts, traffic lights and heavy traffic. All driving lovely again, thank goodness!

Thanks Paul - I will get that looked at. The engine management light is still on today, but I haven't had the cutting out issue, thank goodness! Daft question - how do I know if the air filter needs changing?

Hi guys I have a 2003 1.4 petrol Desire with just under 46000 miles on the clock and it has started misbehaving itself. For the last couple of weeks the engine management light has been coming on and going off intermittently on the dashboard, but apart from that the car has driven perfectly fine. Today it has started cutting out on me - 3 times so far - when I'm slowing down on the approach to a junction / roundabout / traffic lights etc. Its just very brief and then carries on normally again. Can anybody help? Thanks! Ali

My new-to-me C3 is quite growly (or should I say throaty?) when accelerating. Sometimes I can feel a vibration coming through the driver's seat at the same time. Is this normal or have I got a problem? Ali

Whoops, sorry! It's a 1.4 Desire, petrol. Found the handbook! You were right, it was hiding in the drawer under the seat. I tried pushing the button on the end of the wiper stalk earlier but it didn't seem to do anything.

Hi guys I've just got myself a lovely little low mileage 2003 C3 but it didn't come with the handbook so I'm not completely sure about the dashboard display yet. At the moment, under the speed indicator it says "max miles" and then a number (which seems to be alternating between 46, 43, 34 and 27.) I think it appeared around the time the fuel level dropped to the last bar and the light came on so is this telling me roughly how many miles I can do on the petrol left in the tank? Hi all I've owned a couple of Citroens in the past (Saxo and Synergie) and have just taken possession of an '03 C3 Desire in Pizazz Green (which I've named Poddington, for anybody familiar with kids TV!!) Unfortunately it didn't come with the owners handbook, and I definitely have some questions about the dashboard but I'll have a little look around here first :) Ali
