  2. Hello everyone Would anyone know the correct grade of oil recommended for my Relay please. The approx quantity would help as well. 2003 2.0L HDI diesel turbo Thank you in advance Neil Page
  3. My door now latches. Mechanism needed greasing. Thank you
  4. Dear all From my post about driveshaft oil seal I could not find a gearbox oil level hole on my citroen. I ended up filling the gearbox through the reversing switch which is situated on top of the gearbox. Best described as being under the Mass Air Flow Meter. I had to use a piece of tubing to extend the bottle to the gearbox. There is no level indicator or dipstick. I just added what I took out plus a little more. I assume you have to drain out the lot and put the correct amount in from the top. I don't know the correct amount for my vehicle. I hope this info may be of help to someone.
  5. The white nylon device turned out to be the speedo sensor. The oil was already at this level.
  6. Thank you for your information. I spent an hour looking for a fill plug without success. There is a white nylon device on the diff with three wires coming out of the top. It is secured with an 11mm head bolt. I removed the bolt but it wasn't for coming out. Tomorrow I will disconnect the wires and see if the reversing lights go out, if it is a switch I would be happier to play around with it.
  7. In a nutshell no. with an addendum. The driveshaft needs to come out about 5" to clear the gearbox. I managed this by using spring compressors and disconnecting the suspension strut. Disconnecting the bottom swivel. undoing CV joint at hub. I extracted the driveshaft complete with bearing carrier as the bearing wouldn't come out of the carrier as designed. If the vehicle was new and everything came apart as it should, it may be possible not to have to disconnect the outer CV joint. I caught 1.5L of gearbox oil. I expect to put back a little more to allow for what had seeped out. I just now need to find the filler hole. Thank you.
  8. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the O/S driveshaft oil seal without removing the CV joint from the hub. For example, remove track rod end, seperate bottom ball joint, swing hub outwards pulling driveshaft out of gearbox. 2003 relay 2.0HDI Thank you for your help in advance.
  9. Today I fitted a split CV boot kit to the N/S inner CV joint. The spec wasn't spot on for my relay but it was close. Kit was a Bailcast CVS18 I trimmed off the smallest end leaving the 35mm size and trimmed off the largest leaving the 83-97 size. I fitted the CV boot around the driveshaft and glued the edges together for about 2cm, stretching it a little, held it for a minute, then it fitted snugly around the driveshaft. I glued the rest of the seam together about 2cm each time until the halves of the boot were fitted together. I then cut the old boot away but could not get the securing ring off the CV end. It appeared to be made of steel and not Ali like the other end. I cut the boot away from the CV joint using the knife provided and put the new boot over this and secured it with the supplied bands. All in all took about 40mins, not the 20 quoted in the video on you tube. Very impressed and an easy job on a sunny day. With hindsight, I would have left the larger size on to go over what was left of the old CV boot. Not sure how fast the glue would go off in the winter. Could use activator as the glue supplied is black flexible superglue (cyanoacrylate).
  10. Found on the web. Not tried it yet. With the ignition off, hold the trip meter (the '000.0' button) in. Turn the ignition into the electric position. You will see a countdown go from 10 down to 0. When the counter hits zero, release the button. You then get a ==0== message. Now turn the engine on. That's it.
  11. I have just bought a Relay and my door won't latch either. I will have a good look and see what I find being given the inspiration.
