Paul H, could I pick your brains on another issue? Should the gearbox oil be changed at all, and if so, how often? I've has mixed information as to whether the oil should be drained and changed at all. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Just to clarify, mine was showing 'Automatic Gear Fault'

Hi. Im pretty sure it was a brake pedal sensor that solved the problem. The dealer covered the costs as well as dealing directly with Citroen to have the repair done. I still have the car and its been fine ever since (2 years on). I'm now pretty pee'd off that this could have been the solution for my previous Picasso, however was quoted £2000 upwards for the repair so sold it as Spares Or Repairs. hmm.

Hi. I know this was a while ago now, but I have been told I need to change my Brake Light switch. For the last 3 days I have been getting fault regarding Speed Control Faulty. The Service light comes on for about 20 seconds and then goes out. It will do this every journey but only once. I have also been having issues with gear change from 1st to 2nd (auto), as in there seems to be a delay and then a slight umph when changing. But yesterday there was a big jolt….followed by "Speed Control Faulty". I have never used Cruise Control as I don't know how to, but I do have it. Oh, and this morning as soon as I turned my car on, I got a FLASHING Eml (only flashed for a few seconds then went out) with a message about Anti Pollution Fault. Do you think the Brake Light Switch really has anything to do with this? Thanks

Hi. I noticed that my rear wash was coming out of the small rear side window instead of travelling to the rear windscreen outlet. I took it to a garage and he took off the side panel and found there was a split in the wiring causing the water to come out there. My thing is. I cant figure out how to get access to that panel? I'm pretty sure he just pulled it off, but I don't want to force it. Can't see any screws either. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

Thanks. Going to pop in this afternoon and get them to rectify the issues. Fingers crossed. :(

So took my car to local garage. It turned out to be the wiring...and the micro switch. Doesnt open as smoothly as it did before. Instead of the lock releasing when you press the microswitch, I sort of have to press the button and pull the boot upwards as in to force it open. hmm. On the plus side my rear demister now works thanks to the wiring repair. However, (nothing ever runs smoothly), I went to clear my rear windscreen with the windscreen wash, but instead of it coming out where it should do, it was coming through the small rear window and into the car????? Anyone point me in the direction of fixing this? Thanks

Thanks for the video link. I did check on Citroens website for recalls. They recalled vehicles from 2005 - 2006 on the wiring loom. Mines a 2007. I did find this http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?129241.45 Fifth thread down shows images of what is/is not classed as conforming. Mine is image B, which is the same as recalled ones. Do you think I could argue that with them?
-
Thanks. I just about managed to pull the rubber end clips out but cant see anything. No slack. Looks like I'll have to cut the rubber to access the wires.
-
Unless there's anything I can do myself in the way of checking the Loom?

Great!!! Off to the garage then I guess :( Thanks

Did you get this resolved? I have the same problem with my C4. Purchased a new lock. Fitted it, connected it up, but nothing. I'm thinking it might be an electrical fault as when we fitted the new lock it was in the 'lock' position. Central locking wouldn't 'unlock' it. We took the lock out and manually unlocked it, fitted it back in so could now shut the boot but still nothing. No 'locking/unlocking' noise when pressing CL. Has been suggested I should change the microswitch but surely that's just to release the boot from once its unlocked?? Blooming annoying. Got my MOT coming up soon so need this sorted before then. :)

One more thing, I am assuming I will need to disconnect the battery if it does prove my wiring is faulty and need to work on this. Will this affect my radio...as I don't have any code for it? Thanks again

Thank you so much for your help. You've been fab. I'll have a look and let you know if I have any success. ....fingers crossed.

Yes. The same day. The dealer I bought the car from took it to Citroen and had to change some sensor...cant remember what sensor it was now, but it hasn't done it since thank God. One less thing to worry about Regarding my boot. I'm going to have a look at the wiring loom tomorrow. I've noticed there are two rippled tube's (one on each side). Do you know which one I need to remove to check the wiring? And is it easy enough to remove this tube? Thank you

Just wanted to add one more thing that may be relevant. My rear window demister doesn't work either...and hasn't for several months. Are the wires for this in the same place as the tailgate wires? After Googling, it seems these wires are in the rubber rippled tube bit on my boot, right??
-
Thanks. RE Key Fob, I haven't got the handbook, so I'll try 'Googling' that. Yes I thought it may be some sort of wiring issue. But I wouldn't know where to start looking. Is this an Auto Electrician job? Thanks

I loaded up my Citroen C4 yesterday morning for the school run, only to find my boot wouldn't open when we reached the school, and hasnt done since. Ive unlocked it from inside using a screwdriver. Tried to lock the car by the central locking, but it wouldn't lock, which makes me think its not a faulty sensor as it 'sensed' the boot was open. I don't know if this is related, but my key fob stopped working around 2 months ago. I changed the battery but it still didn't work so have been accessing my car by the lock on the passenger door. Help on either/both issues would be gratefully received.

Thanks for that. I have contacted Citroen and waiting for them to book me in for a diagnostic scan. I can understand the car going into 'Safe Mode'...ie: 3rd gear, if the brake pads were thin, but why would 'Auto Gear Fault' show up for this, thats whats confusing me. The dealer I took it back to didn't seem to comprehend the auto gear fault bit, as it had disappeared from the instrumental panel by the time I got to them (It only stays for a few seconds), so were concentrating on it being stuck in 3rd gear. They changed the pads, and it drove home lovely yesterday, but thats similar to what happened with my old picasso. The fault started off occurring once a week, after a few months it was happening every journey within the 1st 2 miles or so. Thanks again. I'll see what Citroen have to say.

. Yesterday whilst driving,I experienced a big jolt, 'auto Gear Fault' appeared on the instrument panel and the car went into 3rd gear and wouldn't change out of it until I restarted the car. I had this with my last picasso, which ended up with me having to scrap the car as it needed the pressure regulator valves changed and was just too expensive to repair. I have brought it back to the dealer I purchased it from (NOT a Citroen dealer), and they have said NO faults showed up, but they are changing the brake pads and that will solve the problem. Does this sound likely? Brake pads could cause Auto Gear Fault?? I dont want to end up with a car that is beyond repair (economicaly). Thanks

Ok. It was the heat shield after all. NOW, ANOTHER PROBLEM I had a Citroen Picasso, 06 before this car which had similar issues as I am experiencing now. Ok, So I cleared out my boot and went for a spin....No knocking heard. Seems to do this noise at lower speeds, and on acceleration.
-
Thanks for your replies. Heat shield has been suggested so will look into that. But I thought I'd hear that pretty much all the time if it was loose, but I only hear it every now and then. Haven't heard of Roll Bar....so will look into that too. Yes, it sounds as if I'm driving over a grill or loose drain (for about 2 seconds)....even though the road I'm actually on could be smooth. I can hardly hear it when I'm driving with the windows up, so definitely an external noise, and sounds like it's from the rear of the car. One more thing. I don't know if I've imagined this, but driving home from the school run this morning, I could hear a knocking.....I think. I could be just looking for issues now. i've had absolutely no luck with cars.
