Hello Paul.h , The leaking rack had been going on for quite a while ,I gave it to my local m.ot garage to try and cure the leak. When you view it from underneath it looks like the feed pipes are leaking. so The garage rings me and says Citroen won't sell the "o" rings seperatley and want £250 for replacement pipes, I was a bit gutted but told them to go ahead ,at a cost of £539 !!! it seemed to be cured? 6 months later the rack is leaking again. I gave it back to the garage they had it six days and it came back to me leaking. It was then I realised it must be the input pinion. so rang a local indipendant citroen garage and he told me the last rack he did on a c5 was £1000 ,could not entertain that so found the deal on ebay , nice weather so i thought lets go for it. now its done and i have recovered. I am very happy with it. no oil leaks. so looking back on it,initially it must have been leaking from the pipes, and mighty unfortunate that Citroen feel the need to rip everyone off, but you just have to accept it sometimes. then six months later the pinion oil seal gives out.hence reconditioned rack. . Gary .

Hey Folks Thought i would post my latest job, might be of use to others. My car has been plagued by leaving patches of LDS wherever i park my car. I found a steering rack company on eBay They are in Wakefield Yorkshire and their deal is you remove the rack pay your £180 they send a courier to collect the rack and return it three days later. Noticed on the input shaft they had left It bare metal and pitted apart from the lower 15mm which was painted same black as the rack. I reasoned the input oil seal had failed because rusty water had run down it and caused the oil seal to fail. SO before i refitted the rack i cleaned the weathered input shaft with thinners and gave it two coats of smooth metal paint. Just so it does not rust and cause the oil seal to fail. It is a pure pleasure to look beneath my car and not see a drop of oil. Gary

Hi Folks I have bought a lexia3 with loads of mysterious wires and plugs and two discs from china? I have installed diagbox and uninstalled it so many times i am thouroghly sick of it.I have at best connected it all up to the car and at the last bit after you put the VIN number in it asks you to validate,i haven't got the username or password. can anyone help me. My car is a 2008 2.0hdi C5 X7 exclusive. the suspension pump failed and I sent my pump to BBA Reman in kent for them to recondition it, turned out their technicians could not comunicate with the pump? so they offered to find me a repacement pump , had no option but to say yes please. so now i have that pump fitted to the car ,i have bled it and presurrised it but of course it will not rise, as the car ecu can't comunicate with the pump. is there anyone local or within a reasonable distance that can plug a lexia3 into my car and configure the pump to talk to the car . My name is Gary and i live in Lancashire.

Hello Dear people, I thought i would share this idea of mine incase it is of use to anyone else. sorry if it has already been told before, please delete it if it has. My new ride is a 2008 C5 exclusive 2.0 hdi. I was a little miffed to realise that when it refers in the handbook to the car stereo being bluetooth compatable it is relating only to the phone connectivity. Some kind soul has fitted Parrot to the car in it past so the phone is connected no problem. on the C5 there are two RCA sockets situated in the glove box, these are linked on the stereo to AUX input 2 . I have a bluetooth unit it is round about 70mm diameter about 20mm thick and has a charge socket and a 3.5mm socket. You'll find one online cheap enough. my set up is so...... connect a 2 metre twin RCA lead from the glove box socket to the rear of the passenger seat. the lead you need is a" 2m RCA to 3.5mm stereo jack lead" pug your lead into the bluetooth unit, make sure it has a power lead from the ashtray socket at rear of centre console. ensure the bluetooth unit is on, go into your menu on the car stereo and find AUX input. select it. Now find your blutooth unit with your mobile phone or sony walkman(as I do) and you know have the music of your choice played through the really quite good music system of the C5. steering wheel controls working, no problem. I have hidden the wires and trailed them to the rear of passenger seat so you don't have clutter of it all around the limited space of the gear stick. I just reach behind the seat and switch the unit on when i need it. Hope this helps someone. Regards Gary

Hay days folks, I collected my car from the auto electritians this afternoon, and what a joy it is to have everything (lights) working as they should. They had soldered wires from the earth plate on the bulb holder and connected it to the Earth wire in the loom, so re estableshing an earth. I had them fit a new battery as the old one was stuffed, however long the car had stood on the dealers forecourt ,people opening the car and turning the ignition on draining the battery , not surprised the battery was worn out. they had reset the computer, by that i take it they meant the bsi. all working now the car is ajoy to drive. best regards Gary

hello all and thanks for all the replies and sugesstions. spent a couple of hours on it this morning and noticed a leg has corroded and is missing on the left rear bulb holder ,that pin is for the earth back into the loom. i had pulled a load of fuses to check them under the dash, when i connected the rear light up again the left hand indicator rear started working. it has stopped since because I took the bulb out? replaced it and it doesn't work. I have arranged for the car to be looked at by G&S Auto Electritians in Chorley tommorow morning (Thursday) so fingers crossed and see if they can sort it. I think the problem is likley to be down to bad or no earthing and, when i pushed and pulled fuses i got a result ,so must suspect the contacts in the fuse box. I will let you know how i get on. again Thanks for all the replies. Gary

Hello Dear C5 drivers. My car is a 2008 2.0hdi exclusive saloon. my problem is the rear indicators do not work. I have checked the earth terminal on the rear light plug and it has a good earth. check the indicator wire at the plug and no voltage at all. the front indicators work as do the repeaters on each door mirror .Hazards work only on the front. Has anyone else had this problem . I realise from the Haynes manual that the feed for all the indicators comes from the BSI unit. I have been trying to remove the glove box so i can get a better look at the bsi unit and check for voltges there, but I have removed all the screws i can see in the haynes manual, but i am not sure if the 2002-2008 covers my car, there being no manual available for the later cars. As a result the glove box remains firmly in place. Any help appreciated. Gary
