The legal requirement for tyre pressure sensors runs from 2015. I only had three in my 07 exclusive hatch C5 when I bought it. the on dash screen kept telling me that the front tyres were down when the rear sensors were at fault. When I changed the tyres I had them all removed. if your going to do this don't leave the old valves in the boot of the car, the ecu will still detect them and present with a fault. I used my lexia to disable the tyre pressure sensor programme. Now I can run my tyres at 33psi instead of 36psi and the ride comfort is way better than it was at 36psi. tyres are lasting around 9k on the front which is not bad for a heavy car with pwr steering.

There are six spheres on most basic xantias and a vsx has eight all together sounds like you also need to replace the accumulator sphere at the front and possibly the ride height sphere at the back. The rear centre sphere is a bit of a pig to do on the vsx model. The accumulator sphere should tick about once every 1 minute 30 seconds.

Ticking Noise Coming From Left Fron Wheel Arch..
C5-Nigel replied to a topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
which model is it? the hydractives and vsx models have computers that run on long after you stop the engine monitoring the height of the car and all manner of different things. -
pull back the boots on the front suspension struts and spray some lhm fluid on the struts the squeak will go. don't do it the day before mot's as it might fail with a strut leak that simply isn't there. The old BX struts used to squeak to but they had a hole at the top of the struts you could pour lhm into.

that's links broken, here's the details. Pleiades is my local Citroen specialists who does most of the major work on my Citroens. Pleiades. Unit 12A Brookside Close. Industrial Estate. Sawtry. Cambridgeshire. PE28 5SB Telephone: 01487 831239 I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on my Citroens. prices are much much lower than your main stealers. and as they say on their business cards "our customers become our friends"

xantia rads have a nasty habit of springing a leak at the bottom on the passenger side this can often be mistaken for aircon fluids dripping from the underside of the car. check for corrosion around this area white calcification with a little green from the copper components leaking out.

go for it, its the most fun in corners you'll ever have.

Wher Can I Find Vin Number On 1973 Citroen Mehari?
C5-Nigel replied to a topic in Questions about the Citroen 2CV
There should be a red and white plate bolted to the gearbox to engine mount usually on the drivers side of the engine and a top bolt. -
Fully Renovated Needs A "tuning Up"
C5-Nigel replied to 2curriculumvitae's topic in Questions about the Citroen 2CV
sounds like another coil breaking down, they tend to overheat mounted on the headlamp rail I had this problem with mine and replaced it with an upgraded one from ecas apparently a Harley Davidson coil. solved the poping and backfiring straight away. you could also undo the 13mm nut on the front of the carb and clean out the fuel filter screen, they are often ignored for many years because people tend to fit inline filters. -
2cv city are cheaper.

Towing A 2cv With An A Frame
C5-Nigel replied to scotjimland's topic in Questions about the Citroen 2CV
it is now illegal to tow anything on an a frame unless its total MaM is below 550KG the 2cv is 750kg if you still want to do it you will need a specialist towing rig that operates the brakes on the vehicle being towed. basically if the vehicle being towed has brakes they must all be functioning. -
search for 2cv City online, if you want to pay more search for Ecas 2cv supplies, or just compare prices.

the fuse boxes should be fixed to the bulkhead under the bonnet. to white square plastic covers dead centre of the bulkhead. Im not sure which one is the alternator, brushes usually need replacing once they become about an inch long. it is possible that one has a weak spring behind it and its not making sufficient contact on the comutator new brushes are about £10.00.

Engine Doesn't Want To Idle Or Start When Hot
C5-Nigel replied to mdfatsi's topic in Questions about the Citroen 2CV
on the front of the carb is a 13mm nut undo it carefully and behind it is a brass filter screen clean the screen in some petrol and put it back. failing that it could also be the coil getting to hot and breaking down, it is a common problem with 2cv's because of where the coil is mounted on top of the light bar so close to the bonnet. I upgraded my coil with the Ecas Harley Davidson yellow coil and carbon leads, I had similar running problems to yours with my 2cv. occasionally she used to backfire to, all that went away when I replaced the coil pack. if the car has been standing for a long time check the fuel pump to see if it has output pressure, the modern unleaded fuels can degrade the rubber diaphragms in the fuel pump. always start a hot 2cv with your accelerator pushed to the floor then as she fires release the pedal. this is the way the old ami-8 engines needed to be started when hot which had the same engine as a 2cv. mine also has 123 electronic ignition. -
Hi, I had a similar problem with my C5 when I first bought it, it would cut out and I couldn't restart it, after some asking around I was told that the modern HDi diesel engine requires a very high fuel pressure and if the pressure doesn't come up to spec they wont start. a good battery allows the fuel pump to turn at enough speed to generate this high fuel pressure. as it turned out my battery was becoming to weak to turn the pump at the required speed to raise the fuel pressure enough. Im not saying that this is your particular problem but it might be. if you have been doing small journeys in the dark for about a week lights on radio on it just might be possible that the battery has drained itself. if your thinking of charging the battery it might be better to do it off the vehicle as this can damage fuses these days.

Hello Spiff, its a 1997 you say, well when I bought my 1998 diesel Xantia Estate I removed the Cat completely and replaced it with a new one piece exhaust pipe, possible on a diesel because it didn't have the lambada sensor. I wonder if your petrol has the sensor in the down pipe, if not you could probably do the same. or remove the sensor and just plug it with a blanking bolt. this would increase your BHP by about 15%. fuel economy improves to. firstly check that it doesn't mention the words catalytic converter on your Reg document. On ebay the one piece estate Bosul exhausts are £50.00 with a 2 year guarantee. you would need to look for a 1995 exhaust. well worth looking into. The cambelt failed in mine only 24k in to its life as the bottom crank pulley disintegrated, it had a hairline crack in it a ticking time bomb, I bought a second hand engine and the car went into Bourne Citroen for a few months whilst he swapped over the head and the bottom pulley total cost £400.00 she ran fine for another 60k and then the turbo started burning oil hence why I bought a C5 exclusive. Im slowly loosing the feeling in my feet owing to diabetes so now I'm looking for an Automatic C5 estate and the exclusive manual hatch will have to go, such a shame really its a beautiful example at 89k and so very clean to.

Hi, I'm here to learn more about my 1997 Mk2 2.0l HDi Citroen C5 Exclusive and Hopefully very soon a MK3 C5 automatic estate. (I'm saving up). I purchased a lexia from Easy Diagnostics a little while ago but I am having some difficulty finding the menu that leads to the information about when the exhaust last generated and when the last time the additive tank was filled. I'll post these questions in the approiate place later on. I used to have a Citroen Xantia 1.9TD an AX 1.1 a BX 1.4 and a BX 1.9TD. I now have my C5 and for fun in the warmer weather my 1987 Citroen 2cv which I shall be selling soon as its not getting the use it really needs. I am fairly mechanically minded and my hobby seems to reflect that in Radio Control sailing yachts. Regards. Nigel. :)

Shaking Trembling When Accelerating C5 X7 Exclusive
C5-Nigel replied to jaysams80's topic in C5 - Technical
hi I'm New here but we used to have this problem on the old Citroen Xantia, firstly I'd go for the intermediate bearing on the drivers side driveshaft. if the shaking on acceleration still plagues you it could be the lower drivers side engine mount, they often get oil in the rubber which degrades over time. we used to call it the donut mount. It is almost directly in front of the pedal box. Im not even sure my MK2 C5 exclusive has one as yet as Ive not seen much above the under tray. This was a common problem with the Xantia every 70 to 80K the problem came back to haunt us again. the vibration was often cured by just replacing the drivers side drive shaft with a new one and new intermediated bearing but some had to replace the donut mount as well if they left it to long to change the driveshaft. The shaking was worse accelerating up through about 40mph then after that the shaking would stop. if your gear stick is wobbling badly as this happens it is probably more likely to be the engine mount. a small amount of oil escaping the cam cover would migrate down the back of the engine and soak the engine mount rubber.
