A friend of mine has purchased a new 1.4 petrol C3 it has only done 3000 miles since new and has had the head gasget replaced after a week because of an oil leak . Guess what the oil leak is back and it seems to be from the area behind the Air con pump, he has tried to indentify exactly where the oil is coming from but cant find the cause without stripping components down. Could it be from a threaded hole in the block that has a stud or bolt missing , have any of you that work in a Citroen dealership come across this problem.

My car is a 1.6 hdi since this thread started I have been recording the diesel I have used against the mileage. Most of my journeys are on duel carriageways where I travel to work. I have ignored the average fuel readings on the display and have worked them out using a calculator. I am very pleased with the result of 59.8 miles to the gallon with the cost of fuel at £0.95 a litre I am glad I bought the diesel model. I am sure I could get over 700miles to a tank the most I have recorded is 680 and I still had two bars left on the fuel gauge, approx 118miles left.

I did try my local Citroen dealer here in Kent but as I said before they wanted £58. 59 for just Two I have got my replacements now £36.00 made by PJ Visualis part of the Valeo group. If anyone spots them in France put a message on the board regarding the price.

I found another motor factor in my location that will supply a front pair of Valeos for £36.00 inc vat (Super Trade Price) so i have ordered these. Why are they so expensive compared to a normal blade? Big John D in his last post mentioned about buying them in France if you go over for a visit, my son agreed with him that he had seen the Valeos on sale in the Supermarkets at about half the price they cost in England. I wish he had got me a pair in January when he was in France . It just seems a case of Rip Off Britain again.

I have got to replace both my wiper blades now 27mths old 17000 miles. I have found a local motor factor GSF car parts that can supply a front pair for £42.89 inc vat cheaper than the Citroen price of £58.59 inc vat which was quoted to me today. They have branches all over the U/K . The web address is gsfcarparts.com. I hope this will be of help to any C4 owners .

To Lab 444 I Use Hidsons at Rainham Kent you will get a first class job done there, dont mess about with the others as the standard of work at Hidsons is very good . They might even be able to price match your best quote you can only try. It would be nice of them if they could give a discount to forum members, think of the extra work they might get.

As Tina Turner Once Said...steamy Windows, Zero Visibility
Rob555 replied to Rich_Eason's topic in C4 - Technical
My car got steamed up very bad, the windows were dripping on the inside and the air-con took forever to clear it. The cause turned out to be water getting into the boot from the o/s rear lamp unit ,(look for water in the lens) the dealer said the seal had gone and replaced the lamp .Its been o/k since -
Mike5483 and C4VTS As reported before I have had a knocking noise / rattle from the n/s/f and have also had new front shocks fitted. It seemed to cure it for a while but the noise came back. I had to return to the dealer regarding another matter and I asked them if they could have another look the car to investigate the noise. They were kind enough to loan me a C3 at short notice until my car was returned. Well so far so good I have not heard the noise again but it is early days as I have only been out in the car twice since it came back. I will let you know after Christmas if its still o/k and what parts were replaced if it proves successful.

Went to my local dealer with the key today, they looked at it and said it could not come apart like it has unless it had been damaged and that it would not be covered under a normal warranty claim. Well I certainly have not damaged it as part of the moulding has broken inside, and I always press the button in when folding it . They are going to speak to Citroen to see if they will replace it as a goodwill gesture. If they dont my daughter will be disappointed as she will not be getting her C1 in the new year. I will keep you informed.

I was just going out today, I put my key in the Ignition lock and went to start the engine, when turning the key the metal part was left in the lock but the fob had come apart and was on the floor mat in bits looks like it is broken inside is this a first? I had to use the spare key.

I had the same fault with my cruise control they done all the updates but it still played up . Since the control switch on the steering coloum has been changed it has been working O/k. If you live in the South of England book it into Hidsons of Rainham Kent, they will fix it.

I have still got my clonk from the n/s front suspension at slow speeds and new front shockabsorbers have had no effect.
-
I had the same fault with the cruise control and speed limiter. The clutch pedal switch was changed as this had showed up as a fault, but still the same. The Citroen agent then did an update on the computer but this did not work . They then contacted Citroen U/K and they said to change the switch on the steering hub which has now been done so far its o/k. There was also a fault listed as glow plug open circuit and these were changed at the same time. (Done about 12000mls)

Mike I use Hidsons of Rainham The service department are very good . Thanks c4vts for your posting but it is more of a hard knock / clatter than the sort of noise you would get from a plastic liner in the wing being loose. Its strange that it only does it at low speeds and tends to be worse when you have just started a journey. It sounds as if it is coming from under the dash where the corner post meets the windscreen. i was hoping for a little more feedback from other members regarding the noise but I am sure when it goes in for its service they will find the fault .

I have a 1.6hdi sx . When I just start a journey and travel at slow speeds approx 20 = 30 mph on a poor road surface I tend to get a knocking /clonk that seems to be from under the dash board on the passenger side near the corner post, or from the front suspension. My local dealer 'Hidsons' have been very good and they have changed both the front suspension legs, they said they will still be quite happy to investigate this furthur when I take the car in for its 12500 mile service . There are quite a few drivers on the French forum http://www.planete-citroen.com/forum/ (can be translated by using 'Google ) that seem to be getting this problem but nobody has been able to find what is causing the noise as yet Can anybody help sort this ?

The engine warning light has come on a couple of times when using the cruise control on my 1.6 hdi. I was reducing the set speed from 70mph to 65mph as I was getting to close to the car in front. I have seen a couple of comments about a fault on this model can anyone give the exact details of what the fault is could it be the same ?

My 1.6 hdi used about 1/2 a litre of oil in the first 5000 miles it is now on 10000 miles and it has not used anymore . I was speaking to a truck driver the other day and his truck uses synthetic oil and only needs an oil change at 100000kms
