Guest ianang Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Will it stop my radio going into economy mode after half an hour if I link the permanent live to the switched live on the back of the radio? Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Be very very carefull when adding live wires. The ecu shuts it all down for a reason and by stopping this you could be opening a very expensive can of worms. Quote
nevcco Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You would want to cut the original switched live feed to prevent the rest of the cars wiring being permanently on-or feed from the switched line via a diode-But as coastline taxis warns, the smoke might get let out !What model are we talking about here,Mine's a 09 C5 Tourer 2.20hDi exc -the radio is probably turned on and off by economy mode information in the BSI canbus type data stream like a lot of other bits and bobs in the C5.An aftermarket radio could probably be wired the old fashioned way ,but you might struggle to use the steering wheel remote controls. iF anyone has managed to defeat economy mode for the radio ,electric rear tailgate and interior lights I would love to know how they did it.Mine only worked properly when I accidentaly left the car's newish battery on a crude industrial charger for 24h,it stayed up in the 13 volt plus zone for a month-even so the radio still quits after 30 mins .We need to fool the BSI that the engine is running or get a 14.5v battery ! Porsche430 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 If you have an X7 C5, you can have the economy mode disabled completely using Citroen's own diagnostic program, but I don't believe this is for customers to utilise and wouldn't be advisable. If it is going into economy mode very quickly after shutting the vehicle down, check the battery and alternator. It may not be up to scratch which is why the ECU is being so tight. At low voltage, the ECU priorities one thing only, starting and nothing else. Quote
