Guest kimosabe Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Hi guysFor about a week now I have been exeriencing poor acceleration.( 2001 2.2 hdi sx 109k mls)I have had no fault warnings and the car starts and drives well apart from a lag on accelerating.Drive off in 1st gear change up to 2nd gear and it just dies till i gather speed and then it takes off, change up to 3rd gear and the same thing happens as it does also in 4th & 5th gear.I now have to drop a gear when going up hills as well.I have been reading on the forum about the swirl chamber diaphragm but this may not be the problem as the thin wire rod is attached at both ends and moves back and forth if I rev the engine..( could the diaphragm have a hole in it???)I have noticed that the bottom inch or so of the intercooler is covered in what looks like oil and the bottom of the air filter box had about half an inch of a watery oil mix in it.(air filter changed)Before I go spending money that I don't have is there something I should be looking at.Any help would be a bonus..TIADavie Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Drain the intercooler and the air filter if no improvement then think about getting the turbo boost solenoid checked on a diagnostic Quote

coastline taxis Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Take the bottom hose of( jubilee clip) the intercooler and put a dish under the hose and the cooler and leave overnight. idealy you dont want any oil to come out at all. If you have to get it plugged in ask them to have a look at the air flow meter. Do you get any smoke out the back when it loses any power Quote
