ataxidriver64 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Hi all, I have a vehicle fitted with the PSA 2.2 HDi diesel engine.Had some good info off this site, so will pass this on.My car was suffering from a puffing injector, were exhaust gasses were passing the injector indicating a faulty injector seal, on closer inspection it turned out to be 2 very loose injector retaining bolts. now i have never touched the injectors in the 3 years i have owned this vehicle, so was suprised that they were so loose, result one broken injector.I also checked the other 3 injector retaining bolts, and found these to be well under the recommended torque, ie not very tight.this is on a 2001 C5 2.2 HDi auto with 200000 miles. Now require a new injector, if any one knows of were i can get one from for a good price. It is ironic that you should post this thread,I have been having an issue with my 2001 2.2.hdi in that there is a lack of power going up thru the gears.Anyway I was down at a mates the other day trying to solve my issue..took off the engine covers to investigate and found a puddle of oil (leaking rocker cover gasket)all along the c/head where the injectors go in and noticed with the engine running air bubbles coming up thru the puddle of oil from the base of #3 injector, on investigation it was found that the 2 allen bolts holding the injector down were very slack..the other 3 injectors were loose also..anyway tightened them all up and took the car for a run hoping this might have had something to do with the lack of power going up the gears. But it made no difference. You mention that you now need a new injector, was this caused because of the loose allen bolts or some other cause.Maybe this is what is wrong with my car and how do I test #3 injector or indeed the rest of them.Any help in this area would be a great help TIADavie Quote

Guest womble Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Thanks for that info Steve, i have sent him an email and awaiting a reply. What is wrong with the old injector???? If the seating is not damaged surely it will clean up, fir new copper sealing washer and away you go??? Quote
Guest kimosabe Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I got 4 new washers from citroen for £8.02 silly money for 4 wee copper washers.Got my mate to put them in,only thing was he couldn't get #3 injector out. He said he would need a special tool to get it out (which he did not have). Is there another way to get a well stuck injector out without breaking it..??As i only got 3 injectors done I still took the car for a spin, but it made no difference, still not pulling as it should. As it gathers speed the turbo doesn't kick in till at least 2,300 revs.I do not think it may be an injector issue, anyone have any idea before I have to take it to a garage for diagnostic test, Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 kimo check your turbo boost solenoid. As for stuck injectors in the past weve unbolted the stuck injuctor just leaving the fuel pipe on and reved the engine right up very stupid and dangerous but it has shifted them. Quote
