Guest Cuzza Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Afternoon all First post for me so hello! I have a 58 plate C5 Tourer with the 1.6 HDi engine. Owned since new and done just over 38k miles First noticed a grumble when pressing the clutch at the end of last week. Rang local dealers and booked it in to be looked at. They have been very helpful but it turns out that a faulty release bearing has caused damage to clutch plates. Both neeed replacing but Citroen UK say it is wear and tear so not covered under warranty! They have offered to pay £200 of the £500 bill. To say I'm not happy is an understatement! I've found a reference on the net to a similar fault on a car with less miles than mine and the owner claims that "Citroen know it's a fault and have issued a technical bulletin to dealers" but I can't find any links or reference to said bulletin. Anyone got any ideas where I might find such a thing? Thanks in advance Jon Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Would say that clutches would be down to wear and tear as diferent drivers have that many different driving paterns you really couldnt put a exact warranty on it. And personaly i think it is a excellent gesture of citroen to offer to pay anything at all. people tend to forget about a thrust bearing when keeping the pedal pressed down at lights etc. they dont realise that it can be spinning at 700rpm and theres no way to replenish the grease that lubricates it. In a nutshell snap there hand off Quote
iannez Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 agree with coastline. accept there offer before they change there mind. Quote
